Chanon blinks at him. He breathes out, and it’s louder than he wants to be. Schools should never be quiet, he thinks, as he searches for footsteps down the hallway, laughter in the class one room over, shouts from the grounds - and finds nothing. It’s eerily silent, even if it was only the Gifted Class XV that was sent home. Chanon can still see their faces in front of his eyes, mumbling their tired goodbyes and see you in two weeks to each other, backpacks slung over their shoulders as they rubbed at the black circles underneath their eyes.
“What do you mean?” he asks, barely trusting his own voice.
In the wake of the aftermath, Chanon and Pom try to figure out who they are and what to mean to each other, after all these years and a chance at a new life with one another.

Pom hates Chanon.
This is a fact of life, he decides, glaring at the back of his head as he curls up into his blanket on the damned top bunk. Just as his name is Porama and he can apparently hold his hand to someone’s head and make them forget, something that scares him every day, just in the same way - he hates Chanon. It’s even more of a maledict when they both make it into the Gifted program, Pom’s heart dropping down when he had seen Chanon’s name inked into the list. Pom had walked into his room the first week after the placement exam to see Chanon Taweepong - the bane of his existence - packing out his things, having claimed the bottom bunk that Pom had wanted and he’d flopped his frustratingly fit body - Pom knows, because Chanon’s soft looking T-shirt was curled up, exposing the muscles in his stomach - onto it.
Pom falls in love with Chanon over dinners, rooming together, and letting himself being taken care of by him. Along the way, he figures out a couple of things about himself.
