As it was - Shane Hollander loved to bite.
He loved the sink of his teeth into soft flesh and hard muscle. He loved suckling and laving his tongue over cool skin, as it turned hot. He loved the noises Ilya made, pulled from deep inside him. He loved the marks that bruised, dark and purple and tender, a physical indication of his presence that could not be denied. He would never be pressed into the shadows again, would never let there be any doubt that Ilya fucking Rozanov belonged to him.

J.J.’s eyes settled across the parking lot, where Shane had hung up the phone but was still crouched, his silhouette dark, head down, hands at the back of his neck. Fatigued, trying to make himself smaller, hide how exposed he clearly felt. Because he and Roz were a thing. Not a one way thing but an actual… thing. Shit.
J.J. hated Florida. The humidity fucked up his skin, and they had those giant snakes that weren’t even supposed to be there but some idiot Florida men had set them free and the swamps there were so fucked that they thrived. J.J. set his jaw, determined, before he responded. “Tell Jackie to get three tickets.” He reached into his bag and confirmed his passport was there. “It will be harder for Coach to punish all of his captains. I’m going with you.”
He nodded his head definitively.

After the Centaurs' plane almost crashes, Shane, Hayden, and J.J. go on an increasingly ridiculous road trip across Florida to get to Ilya and his increasingly suspicious but always lovable teammates.

“Or does he?” Shane said, and broke away to pace the length of the kitchen. “What if he was testing you? Seeing if you would admit it when he asked for my number? And what if he’s testing me, now, to see how I respond?”
“Why would he do that?” said Ilya, tonelessly.
“To catch us out!” Shane said, as if this were the most obvious thing in the world. “Troy definitely figured out we were together when you came out to him. For all you know, the others on your team might have figured it out too, if we’ve been as obvious as we apparently have been this whole time. What if they just want us to admit it? What if they’re messing with us?”
