“I don't care, Joshua.” Jalen bites, his hands balling Josh’s shirt. Like hes some sort of fucking cat.
“I care though. We can take a nap or sum shit after practice tonight. Yeah?”
“Fucking fine.” and Jalen knows its stupid. But in six months Josh wont even be on fucking campus, let alone in their dorm, which wont be theirs anymore. Everything is fucked.or

Josh kind of wants to walk away with Jalen in hand. Probably not a good act of sportsmanship.
In full honesty, Josh zones out for like twelve minutes. He's standing behind Jalen just watching. At some point, Jalen stole the white towel around his neck and was biting the corners while Kat droned on about a possession that went wrong.
Jalen was wearing the purple headband, the one that Ali had got him when she forced him to go to pilates with her. Josh always thought Jalen was prettiest when he was standing next to him, he was selfish but he didn't care. Josh thinks that he was just as pretty, standing with sneakers matching his headband and dripping sweat.
Which is why he's very confused when Alvarado walks up to them. Alvarado looked between Josh's hand on Jalen's hip and Jalen's face. And fucking grinned.
“Jalen, you need a ride? I got space in the back of my truck, it's spacious?” Alvarado is wagging his eyebrows. His hat is backwards and his pants are way too low.
Josh is going to slash his tires. Again. Maybe not his finest moment of being a good sportsman.
“Nah, I got ‘im.” Josh's voice was gruff.

“On the house,” the waiter says, accent thick, placing a silver bowl of chocolate gelato between them. Cherry nestled on top, two tiny spoons tucked in. “For the lovely couple.”
Josh snorts into his fist. He peers at Jalen, waiting for the wild shake of his head, for his look of disgust, for redness to flood his face.
But all he gets is Jalen’s small nod to the waiter and a pleasant, “Grazie.”
And it could be the three glasses of wine, or the blaring sun, but Josh sees it then, could swear it to be true.
Jalen is smiling, and it feels like a punch to the face.(or, Jalen and Josh take a trip to Italy after their championship win and nothing changes until it all does.)
