Dear Mister Potter,
It has been decreed by the Department of Emotional Healing and Magical Well-Being that a new initiative be put into place for all returning Seventh and Eighth Year students. You will be anonymously matched with a partner whose journal is connected to your own. You are not allowed to give your name, but instead, you will be assigned a goal of learning who your partner is by the end of the school year through a series of writing exercises and shared mental health practices. Our goal is to match you with another student whose experiences during the last several years will lead you both down a road of mutually beneficial healing. No one is exempt from this project and you are encouraged to begin your correspondence before school begins. Any questions can be directed toward Dimity Trelawney.

She slowly uncurls her spine, turning to fix him with a quizzical expression, head tilted just slightly.
“You know, Quidditch?” He pantomimes tossing a Quaffle. “You’d be a good Seeker, I bet. That’s the position I play.”
“Why are you talking to me?” Her tone is incredulous.
“What?”
She stares expectantly, evidently not one to repeat herself.
“Oh.” His brows knit. “Should I not?”
“I don’t see why you should,” she corrects, voice light but crisp. “I’m reading, for one. I’m not in your House, for two. I’m not in your Year. We’re not friends. I didn’t ask you to talk to me.”
His brows ascend along with her list.
