He’s shivering by the time he reaches Drake manor, early into the morning. He wraps himself in blankets and sits in the mirror room, staring at where his face should be, but where Robin’s is instead. The domino hides the eyes; despite that, Tim knows what’s—or rather, who—is behind it now.
It’s there, alone in his parents’ too-big-house, that he makes the decision to never tell another soul of what he knows. He is, after all, becoming very well acquainted with keeping secrets. Especially the dangerous variety.

There’s a hitch of breath. Bright beautiful eyes wide in disbelief. The moon reflects in them, emphasizing the brief glimmer of tears that threaten to fall. Tim Drake sees the exact moment Jason Todd falls in love.
He sees the precise second he hands his heart, body and soul over and, like the dragon he is, hoards the memory so deep in his mind nothing could ever take it.

That is, until his gaze lands upon the most breathtakingly beautiful creature he's seen in his life: a human being sacrificed in his name.

Bruce, on the other hand, is forced to accept the hand that fate has given him. Sacrificed in a desperate ploy to save the dying city of Gotham, he has no choice but to adapt, for his sake, and for Kal's.
