Summary

Suguru brings that curse to his lips, swallows down the remains of his best friend, his one and only. Kenjaku smiles, then runs his hand down Mahito’s face, hooking a finger under his chin and placing his thumb just under Mahito’s lip. He tilts Mahito’s head upwards, so that Mahito’s forced to open his eyes and meet Kenjaku’s unreadable gaze. “Shall I teach you, then?”
Mahito frowns. “Is that possible? That seven-three office worker cut through so many parts of me, and technically that should’ve caused me pain, but I didn’t feel anything.”
“Don’t compare me to that man. He was too clumsy, too eager, too focused on exorcising you.” Kenjaku says, tightening his grip on Mahito’s chin. Mahito only blinks up at him. “I’ll do everything with the sole intention of causing you pain. That’s what you want, isn’t it?”
Mahito offers him a lazy smile. “Please, Geto.”
Mahito wants to know what pain feels like, and Kenjaku is more than happy to show him.

Hikaru reached out to place his hand over Yoshiki’s chest and admired the wild rhythm his heart embraced.
“Pretending to be one.” He echoed, drafting an appropriate response meant to de-escalate. Yoshiki jerked back, one fear ridden step followed by another until he was cornered against a wall.
“Do I frighten you?” It was then that Hikaru acknowledged the shift in the air—a tang of adrenaline with the lingering scent of arousal. Yoshiki stiffened beneath his cold touch, body going impossibly taut. Confirmed. He had frightened Yoshiki.
“You're scaring me.”
Oh. How lovely a feeling this was.

Sanji opened his mouth and closed it.
“You were speaking different languages. Last night but also back on the rock.” Zeff spoke gently, Sanji didn’t know what his expression was, he couldn’t look at him yet. “I only knew one or two of them myself, but anyone can tell when someone is asking for help no matter what language they speak.”
Sanji closed his eyes.
“I-I don’t know.” He kept his hands in his hair. “I don’t know how many languages I know. I just know them. I can’t explain why.”

“Shouldn’t Okkotsu-senpai… see someone?” Yuji’s voice was hesitant. He was the last to learn what was going on. Most of the time, the situation was treated somewhat casually. Toge himself treated it casually sometimes, because otherwise he had a feeling it would make it a thousand times more serious for Yuuta if he were to make it serious.
“Yuuta is stubborn,” Toge said. “Whether he sees someone or not, this is how he is.”
“So he’s tried seeing someone before?” Maki asked.
Toge nodded. “Several times.”
“And it didn’t help,” she concluded.
“No,” Toge said.

When they were eight years old, Yuuta, Toge, and Rika were involved in an accident that left Yuuta relatively unscathed, Toge with some lasting injuries, and Rika dead. Yuuta is attached, constantly afraid something will happen to Toge if he’s not there to stop it. And Toge is, in his friends’ opinion, too unbothered by this.

When Chuuya awoke, a familiar pair of amber eyes was staring into his own like most mornings.
He was well aware of the fact Dazai was a light sleeper – if he slept at all, that is – so he’d gotten used to the sight greeting him. It had become somewhat of a comfort if he was honest, getting the immediate confirmation he wasn’t alone the moment he opened his eyes.
Confirmation that he hadn’t been left behind or abandoned.
Again.
With a small smile, Chuuya moved to press a kiss against Dazai’s lips, choosing not to let such negative thoughts ruin his morning. The other hadn’t given him any indication he had plans to leave again, so there was no need to worry this much.
As a matter of fact, they were actually doing quite well lately.

Or: Chuuya hires Poe to write novels about Dazai after his death. While it's not the worst coping mechanism in existence, it's certainly not the healthiest either.

A tax, a bail, a bounty, and she never has enough.
They look at her, there’s a horribly familiar laugh, and then…
Well. Then she wakes up.

Not an inch, a voice that sounds suspiciously like Shoko reminds him. Infinity.
But does it feel like infinity? When summer’s humidity swells to its peak, can Gojo feel the pressure? When a barrage of low-level curses ambushes them in Roppongi, can he sense their velocity, the twist of the wind? When Suguru grazes the immovable space between them – hands him a test paper, shoulders past him in the corridor, reaches out, unthinking, to slap him on the back – does Gojo know the warmth of Suguru's skin?
Then, on July 12th, in a sour-smelling alley in Katsushika ward, Suguru catches him. Hunched over, spindly legs crouched, a street-worn cat pressing her nose to his fingertips. It licks her sandpaper tongue over his knuckles. Rubs the flat of her forehead against his palm. Gojo hums, pushing a tangled cowlick back with his thumb, a serene little smile on his face.

Not when they start moving in sync. Not when they stop checking if the other will follow. Not when one of them almost dies and the other doesn’t let him. It’s just the way things are. That's just how they work, they claim.Until it isn’t and then everything is in question.
