His face breaks into a smile and it’s…oh dear god. It’s a good smile. It’s kind of beautiful. His eyes crease and his nose just barely scrunches like in those medication ads where they reclaim their lives, laughing at a campfire or something. Dongmin scowls, unable to process both his irritation and amazement.
Dongmin abandons his nonchalant act, incapable of stopping himself from asking, “Do good neighbors also take their neighbor’s parking spot? Is that part of the protocol?”
“Good neighbors use all of their assets to improve the community. I saw a neighbor in need—” he gestures to Dongmin—”and dedicated myself to his improvement.”

Summary
Dongmin smiles back, unable to stop looking at him. He’d like his brain to screenshot this moment, to capture it in its honesty and keep it forever. In time he will forget the song playing faintly in the background, the laughing teenagers, the ache as his leg goes translucent. But he begs himself to never forget the softness of Donghyun, the tender vulnerability that shows so much strength it’s overwhelming. He’s made of something so light and beautiful that it touches even the parts of Dongmin he thought he’d gotten rid of. He’s warm from the inside out.

Summary
Another fact: He’s intelligent. No direct evidence to back this fact up. It’s just in his eyes and the way he moves. Deliberate. Knowing. Jisung tries to hide things anyways, pretends that his entire psychological history isn’t documented and known. Jisung acts like they’re regular roommates who were forced to live together in a particularly grueling summer camp. Or college roommates that say hi when they see each other but otherwise act like the other doesn’t exist.
Some days, it’s peaceful. Others, it’s so incredibly lonely that it brings him to his knees.

In reality it took all of three seconds, a regular interval for deciding something, for Yeonjun to sit down. When Soobin plays it back, the memory lengthens until he’s able to decode every passing emotion on Yeonjun’s face. He’s unreliable, seeing things he wants to see, but he swears there’s just something there that looks achingly similar to how he feels.

Thinks that that makes sense for who he is in this scenario, stuck at a booth while others are doing something he has no clue about. Stuck with the impulse to search for Jaemin, even now.

Summary
The truth is that Jaemin didn’t have to steal Christmas for his heart to grow three sizes too big, it’s always hung low and heavy in his ribcage, spilling out of bone, and Jeno doesn’t know how to reconfigure his basic biology to keep up. Doesn’t know how to take this heart that is a normal size and does normal things like keep him alive and make it enough when he wants it to do so much more.
