The Hoenn sun burned warm gold glow across the ocean as a lone figure and his pikachu walked down the dusty roadside outside Rustboro City. A worn red cap, messy Corviknight colored hair and a pair of familiar amber eyes.
Six months ago, Ash Ketchum had become World Champion after defeating the prior champion Leon in the greatest battle of his life. And somehow… life still felt the same.
His backpack bounced lightly against his shoulders while Pikachu sat comfortably atop them, ears twitching in the breeze.
“Pikaaa…”
“Yeah, I know,” Ash laughed. “It’s nice being back in Hoenn.”The region buzzed with life around them. Wingull glided over the coastline. A group of Taillow scattered from nearby trees as trainers battled in an open field. Hoenn always felt alive. And Ash loved it.
“Alright!” Ash jabbed a finger toward the path ahead, a grin forming on his face. “One more battle before lunch!”
Pikachu pumped a paw into the air. “Pikachu!”
