Summary
“Ilya?” his voice is thick and heavy on his tongue. He's so agonizingly beautiful, his face tender and red from the impact of his helmet hitting the ice moments before. “I’m okay,” he insists, blinking slowly.
And then, starting at his fingertips, Shane starts to fade away, just like St-Simon and Marlow and Pike moments before. Eyes soft, Shane gazes at Ilya, not seeming to realize what’s happening at all. And Ilya, overcome with terror, can only watch as Shane’s whole being simply disintegrates into thin air.

Summary
After his loss Sochi, Ilya visits Moscow to see the only two things worth coming home for: his niece and his mama's grave. Unfortunately, a heated exchange with Alexei causes him to flee the country in the middle of the night without letting anyone know.
As he spends 30-something miserable hours trying to get to Boston with a dead phone and nothing to entertain him, the hockey world's thrown into disarray when an article about his affair with Sasha is published. Ilya seems to have disappeared overnight. While the hockey world grapples with the clash of homophobia and the very real consequences of getting outed, Shane Hollander, freshly returned from Sochi, makes a desperate trip to Boston to get to his rival. He knows it's be futile; he just needs to do something.

Ilya gets outed at the end of the Olympics.Good news: He's already on his way to Boston, heartsick and angry after a fight with Alexei.
Bad news: He didn't tell anyone, his phone's dead, and now everyone thinks he was kidnapped and sent to the gulag. Thankfully for Ilya, Shane Hollander's definitely NOT panicking over his rival--turned-lover--turned-nothing vanishing from the face of the earth.

“Is so boring, Hollander. Of course you want to know this. But Ilya Rozanov and Boston Raiders exist in this world, so crystal ball says, so sad, but no.”
“Fuck off. What are these questions even for, anyway? Are you interviewing me for something? Wouldn’t you have to, like, tell me if you were?”
Ilya is quick to assure Hollander before his paranoia takes him right out of this phone call. “It is not for interview, Hollander. I am just wondering. Answer the question.”
“And I can’t say that I would want to know whether I win the Cup.”
“Yes, other than that.”
“I guess… I guess I would want to know, like, am I happy?”
