Lando tells Charles he has a boyfriend. Oscar, unfortunately, is the first person he calls to help him keep the lie going.
It’s only supposed to be pretend. A few days, a little hand holding, and absolutely no reason for things to get complicated.
Except Oscar is a little too good at being Lando’s boyfriend, and Lando might be starting to wonder if the wrong person was his crush all along.

“Panic attacks,” Oscar replied. “How long have you had them?”
"Like… never," he uttered. He continued with the lie. But the driver's sharp gaze was looking through him; he realized how fast his heart was beating. “I don't know,” he corrected himself a moment later. "To be honest, I wasn’t aware that it was a panic attack.”
Or, Lando learns the hard way that love is supposed to feel quiet rather than overpowering.

“Hey, Lando. How are you feeling?”
Lando feels infinitely more sick than he had an hour ago, if only because of the man standing in front of him clearly worrying.
“‘M alright. Got a fever and my throat’s a bit sore but I don’t feel too bad.” He pauses, and looks at the bags on the kitchen counter to see what Oscar brought. There’s new medication, a box of the tea Lando likes, a few containers of the soup he requested, and a thermometer. “You didn’t have to bring all this, weren’t you busy?”
Oscar just shrugs, turning around to grab a bowl off the counter and filling it with soup. “Not really, wanted to check up on you.”

“Please tell me you didn't run back inside after Vettel ordered the evacuation.”
Lando huffed a nervous laugh. “I won't tell,” he said.
Then, a pointed look from Oscar came his way. The Australian didn't even need to say anything to cause Lando throw his hands up defensively. “What?” he said with a sharp, guarded tone. “Should've just left him there and told his friend to suck it up?”
Lando came home after a bad shift, replaying everything that had happened on the call, while Oscar overwhelmed him with questions. It was all too much for firefighter Norris. Luckily, Oscar knew how to help.
