The phone was plucked from his hands, Hollander’s face twisting slightly as he scrolled back down to the new texts. “This is why there was extra security at the Centre tonight,” he admitted, and Ilya watched him take a screenshot and send it to a contact whose saved name started with “Detective.”
Ilya’s chest felt strange, but his voice came out strong and sharp as he demanded, “You’re being stalked?”
“Sort of.”

Ilya is quick to assure Hollander before his paranoia takes him right out of this phone call. “It is not for interview, Hollander. I am just wondering. Answer the question.”
“And I can’t say that I would want to know whether I win the Cup.”
“Yes, other than that.”
“I guess… I guess I would want to know, like, am I happy?”
