Avery saw Derek and thought, if you were never meant to be here in the first place... why warn him? He was supposed to be the vessel. If it meant risking the whole world, he'd rather have Derek live because he cared.
Two people, holding the fate of the world in hopeless hands.
Avery wasn't gonna let Derek die for him.
Derek knew the chances of both of them dying

Summary
The moment Gaster set his eyes on you when you first appeared in that Core, it was love. Love at first sight.
He does all he can to see you again. To create a connection with you. To be with you. To have a life with you.
All those feelings.......and you don't even know he exists. You just bought Undertale and installed the game. Unaware that your moment of purchase and installation created a temporary appearance in the world of Undertale. Though W.D. Gaster was the only one present to see you at the time.
He thinks he was chosen to be your love. You were just interested in playing the new indie game that was released recently that you heard about online.
You don't know what your presence did to Gaster. How you impacted the story, at least in the game you own.
