    Jason’s head turned.

    The bartender was standing there like he’d always been, wiping down a glass, voice level and detached.

    “An autopsy is postmortem,” he continued, tone completely at odds with the words coming out of his mouth. “You’re trying to determine cause of death. Internal trauma, tox screens, organ inspection. Neat incisions. Clean data. No suffering.”

    Jason narrowed his eyes.

    The guy beside him blinked. “And… and dissection is…?”

    The bartender’s mouth twitched.

    Or,

    Jason just wanted a quiet drink, but instead he got a creepy bartender who thinks talking about corpses counts as flirting.
