Every morning, Matt took Cara to work with him.
Everyone had quietly adapted around the little girl until her presence felt as natural as the stacks of case files and the smell of fresh coffee in their office.
Foggy had found a child-sized desk that fit perfectly beside Matt's own, complete with a tiny lamp and a cup full of brightly colored pencils, always fully restocked by Karen. Foggy insisted she would be their “intern”.
"Miss Cara," he'd announce each morning dramatically, handing her a folder with a small stack of coloring pages in it.
"Your assignment today is extremely important."
Cara would nod with all the seriousness a three-year-old could manage.
