Summary
“Lucky for you, I’m off tomorrow.”
“What does that m-ean.”
Garcia doesn’t look up from the screen. “It means I can take the first twenty-four hours.”
Santos’s brain is so fried that Garcia might as well be speaking a foreign language. “Of what?”
Brown eyes flit up to hers. “Your recovery,” Garcia answers like it should be obvious. “You can stay with me tonight and we’ll figure it out from there.”
She says it all without batting an eyelash, and is silent for so long afterward that Santos has time to gather more energy.
“What the f-uck,” Santos all but pleads, “are you talking about?”

Summary
Everything after that happens too fast to think and slow enough that Trinity will replay it later in punishing detail, her brain an endless loop of cause and effect. The patient wrenches his other wrist free, the restraints tied improperly at its connection point to the bed—fucking newbies. He seizes the opportunity immediately. Trinity would notate that point on her neuro exam (patient alert) if she weren't more focused on Yolanda at her side, in optimal reaching distance.
The angle isn't great. Yolanda is bent over him and she sees movement in her periphery a fraction too late, eyes widening as Trinity calls, "Watch out!"

Summary
“I didn’t stir this shit enough, it feels like I just downed a liter of straight syrup…” She groaned, shaking her half empty cup around much more thoroughly now. “Gonna fucking kill myself…”
At that Yolanda’s eyes widened. Was she kidding? Probably, Trinity’s been known for having a harsh sense of humor. She’s said things like this before and Yolanda’s never batted an eye. But that was before Langdon’s return, before the relapse they never talked about, before the month of silence. Sure she might be looking into things too much but she ignored warning signs from Trinity before. Maybe if she had said… well, anything it wouldn’t have gotten to this point.
Or
Five times Trinity jokes about killing herself because she's chronically online and five times Yolanda has a heart attack over it.

Summary
Trinity moved to intercept, but it was too late. His hand managed to grab a hand full of the nurse's hair before yanking her back and toward his arms. For a moment, Trinity thought he would succeed. That the man would manage to get the nurse into his arms. But despite everything — the strength, the pain, the lack of air — the nurse fought, yanking her own head forward before reaching for Trinity with teary eyes.
“Hu—“ She coughed. “Hoop—“
An action that lasted a second. A mere second, but felt like forever. Trinity knew at that moment that she would never be able to forget those big, scared brown eyes. Tearfilled, as they looked at Trinity with desperation.
It didn’t matter that Langdon had gotten away with endangering patients and stealing drugs. That Garcia had thrown her own words back at her and it had stung. That she might repeat her R2 year before even starting it.
It didn’t matter that this man was bigger, stronger, and angrier than her. A hand had clasped her own, digging their nails into her wrist with desperation.
Nothing mattered except protecting this nurse.
Trinity launched.

“I can treat myself. It isnt– It isn’t that bad,” she mutters through clenched teeth; she doesn’t know who she thinks she’s fooling with the shakiness in her voice, and she can feel them all looking at her, scrutinising her, and what she wouldn’t do to get out of that room right fucking now.
With her luck, of course, it follows that she’s been stabbed in the one place littered with scars in all stages of healing.
..........
Trinity Santos is down on her luck. An injury from hands other than her own, an overbearing roommate, and the one person she tried desperately to push away now far too close for comfort.
