Connor leans closer to him. Mouth hovering just in front of Gavin’s, lips parted. “Are you going to let me make you uncomfortable?”
The way he phrases it sends something twisting in Gavin’s insides. It’s more than just – an offer for a hookup, it feels – better. Because Connor knows him. Inside and out. Connor’s seen the ugly side of him, the side he shows people first, and the not-so ugly side, the side he’s insecure about, the side that cares about his pet cat and making sure there’s sugar in his coffee and distracting witnesses with stupid jokes so they don’t stew in the trauma of what they’ve witnessed, the parts of himself he’s tried to hide for so long because they feel soft, soft as in feminine, soft as in could-get-himself-hurt. Weak. Connor’s seen all of that, sure, but he’s also seen the side that would willingly put a bullet in his skull, also seen the side of him that punched him square in the stomach to see how the precient’s new plastic pet would react. All that bullshit on both sides and Connor is still here in bed with him, not-quite breathing besides him.
“… yes,” Gavin manages.

Summary
Hank hadn't really expected Connor to come back to the DPD after... Everything. After having his life threatened by Connor's evil doppelganger in Cyberlife Tower, watching another version of Connor slump to the ground with a bullet between his eyes, Hank had gone home, too full of feelings to do anything but watch numbly as the news broadcast the revolution's success. After everything, Connor returned to working by his side, ostensibly more alive that he'd ever been. Detroit was still a mess. Connor still acts the same as ever.
Until Connor sacrifices himself for Hank, and Hank has to grapple with what it means now that Cyberlife is no longer available to replace him.
OR
Connor dies, and the leaders of Jericho make the executive decision to put Connor in an eerily young body. Hank has to learn how to handle it.
