Summary
In a flash of anger—the sort he has mostly trained out of himself, and the sort he is still prone to when his emotions are already on a hair-trigger—he kicks his foot hard into the door. He doesn't even get the satisfaction of leaving a dent or a scratch. Just another round of pain that finally, finally makes him cry out.
'Tis then that the door swings open. Before him stands Estinien, because why wouldn't he be here to witness Aymeric at his lowest?
aymeric learns to accept help.

Summary
He huffs a laugh, quiet and happy. Estinien would certainly tease him for his sentimentality were he here, as though he is not equally as sentimental and borderline cheesy when the mood takes him. Aymeric has a drawer full of letters that, while not overly verbose, showcase a side of Estinien that he's certain only he has seen. A gentler side, a softer, more open side, one he had pushed down and away after the death of his family. 'Tis a special thing, to be chosen out of all the others Estinien could most assuredly have, and shown something so vulnerable.

Summary
"Are ye upset 'bout it?"
Thancred's fork clings quietly against the plate as he sections off another bite of eggs. He does not reply, not for a long few moments, as he eats. Were this even just a few summers ago, Kaju would assume he was simmering with rage. Were this a decade ago, she would be surprised that he didn't let it boil over into him slugging her from across the table. Now, however, she can appreciate that he's merely weighing his words.
They've both grown, matured. It leaves an odd feeling in her chest.

Summary
He twists it to the left, then the right, then back to the left. The mechanized lock whirrs and clicks ere the other locks begin to unlatch, the magicked ward placed on the door dissipating in a flash of pale-blue light. Estinien pulls the key out once the final lock clicks and, with a deep breath, opens the door.
"Yer late," Kaju says, flat. Estinien winces and hurriedly turns around to set the locks and ward back into place, avoiding the blank gaze he knows to be there.
"I know," he says, weak. "I know. I'm sorry."

Summary
"How are you doing?" Artoirel asks, nearly under his breath. Emmanellain keeps his eyes on the epitaph.
He could lie. He could puff his chest out and proclaim that he's never been better, that there's no need to worry. He could be the same Emmanellain he has always been, the one Artoirel has learned to expect.
Or he could be honest, for the first time in so long. Things have changed, now. His brother is dead, the war is over, and above his head still looms the failure of Falcon's Nest. His promotion to the commander of Camp Dragonhead is but a few days away. His other brother is now the Count of their house, and Edmont—who, for some reason, Emmanellain could never imagine stepping down—is now naught more than their father.
Ishgard is at peace, and Haurchefant is not here to see it.
emmanellain and artoirel talk.
