Meg wasn’t done chasing Death tonight. All the wonder she dreamt over the years, largely fed off ghost stories and gothic novels, had her eager to not let anything good pass her by when she had the chance in her dull life. Before he could get too far, without thinking, she called out to him:
“Monsieur! Surely you want to dance like everybody else?”
The man stopped dead in his tracks and turned to look at her over his shoulder. There were two heart pounding moments where he appeared to consider, and Meg Giry thought her entire life hinged on this moment.

Summary
What if the Phantom was met with a little more support and compassion during his life? Would he still succumb to the darkness surrounding him in his desperate search for something else? And what if a certain blonde-haired ballerina had something more to say in the whole story? In my alternative universe fanfiction the characters' changed past mixes with present, leading to a different outcome, for sometimes even the tiniest, almost unnoticeable, gestures of kindness hold the greatest importance. But could they be enough to reach a happy ending?
