Freshwater doesn't hurt a devil fruit user - it's the specificity of the salt that does it, the mix of ocean water that drains the energy from a devil fruit user and makes them sink. Scout loves Boston. He loves all the restaurants that know his order when he walks in, he loves listening to the Red Soxs play and cheering with strangers. He loves knowing exactly where everything is and the fastest way to get there. It’s not exactly his city. It’s always changing. There’s people everywhere, always. You can hop on the subways and get anywhere you need, provide you can either pay or hop the gate. And he’s sure that everyone misses their homes too. Heavy suffers in the heat of summer, even if he never says anything. He tells Scout of curling up in their house in the dark winter, under piles of blankets with a fire roaring and a huge old book of stories their father used to read to them. Sniper mentions thinking the American brands are strange, uses technology that seems just a step ahead of its time here on base.
Scout calls home every week, talks to his mom and occasionally one of his brothers, if they’re in town. He loves to catch up on the latest gossip and he always asks after family friends. But he can’t bring Boston here. -
