Summary
Wolfwood is really trying to be annoyed about it, because Vash is being objectively annoying—competing with a baby! His baby no less! Take some goddamn responsibility as the man who put this thing in him—but he finds it hard to muster anything other than endearment. It takes a lot to get Vash to start acting out. Wolfwood didn’t see much childishness from him at all for the first several years they knew each other.
So… maybe he’s a little touched. And equally touched to be the one Vash is so desperate for attention from. But he’s not letting that on while their daughter is still hungry. Vash will somehow find a way to cope; Wolfwood is sure of it.
“Wolfwood,” Vash moans again. “I’m wasting away.”
“You know, I got words for a guy who can’t see a bit of nip without his dick getting hard,” Wolfwood comments. “Seems to me you got an internalised misogyny issue, Tongari.”
Vash sighs and drapes his arm over his face. “I think you and Jasmine need to stop talking social justice,” he mutters into his sleeve.
---
Vash gets something out of seeing Wolfwood tend to their daughter. Wolfwood gets something out of making him be patient. Everyone wins.

Summary
Vash catches up to him on the stairs without a word. Wolfwood ignores him until he’s able to get his door open—at which point he spares a glance, tries not to stare for too long, ignores how the roof of his mouth dries out when he meets Vash’s bright green eyes.
Wolfwood has never been able to suss him out, Vash. Do Plants even present in the same way? Not that it would matter—Wolfwood would never, not with Vash—but still… The thought crosses his mind.
“Don’t cause any trouble,” Wolfwood croaks.
“I’ll try,” Vash returns, “but Wolfwood—”
“See you in a week, Tongari.” Wolfwood pushes his cross in first, then throws himself after, slamming the door shut with perhaps more force than necessary. His fingers slide over the lock while he secures it, and then the dead bolt. Just can’t be too careful.
Tragically, he can still smell Vash outside the door. This fresh, slightly salty scent—woodsy and natural, something Wolfwood’s never smelled before.
---
The classic scenario: Wolfwood runs out of heat suppressants.

Summary
His thoughts stab the brakes. Vash digs his thumbs under the balls of his feet, hard time, just like at the start. The difference is how he looks at him, with those clear, unworried eyes of his. Wolfwood doesn’t dare break contact with him. He doesn’t even after Vash begins to rub with the contour of his muscles; out in a perfect curve, up and away, then back to the apex to start again. He can feel his eyebrows knit together— can feel his lower eyelids draw up and his mouth open ever-so-slightly. Wolfwood knows he’s growing vulnerable.
He lets his control slip. Vash digs in harder. “Stay up.”
After a long walk, Vash and Wolfwood hole up in a shitty motel. It's been a long day and Wolfwood is tired, but his reckless partner convinces him to stay up by giving him a foot massage, which turns into a lot more.
