Summary
The dreams are a trauma response, any Yamanaka you ask would tell you. They'd give a complex explanation, remarking how witnessing his father's suicide and being sent to the frontlines of a vicious war so closely would leave its mark on Kakashi's young psyche. They'd say that his brain twists the memories of his dreams of standard situations to give the illusion of control, of premonition. Visions of the future—that's hardly the Hatake bloodline limit, and hardly possible at all.
And yet, here Kakashi is, watching every awful thing fall into place.

All For One, in a stupid, desperate bid for victory, drags himself back to the first time he'd faced down 'Kacchan': Kamino Ward, when the boy was still one of many irrelevant faces (but still similar enough to Kudo to hate), thinking it will be best to just... snuff him out there and then.
Katsuki did not let All For One leave the present-future behind alone, and now the past has one (1) living and slightly off-his-rocker Kacchan, one (1) scared-shitless All For One, and many (many) very confused onlookers.
All's well that ends well, I guess..?

katsuki had always enjoyed literature, the study of it, the analysis. he never brought it up, and no one ever asked, because what business did a kid like him have with books?
his most beloved trope was those with the misguided main characters, the hard-to-deal-with, bullheaded ones who took all those 'negatives' and channeled them towards becoming heroes. great heroes. one of katsuki's personal favorites was achilles; he turned the tide of the trojan war.
as he grew older, katsuki convinced himself he could become an influential hero like achilles. but achilles's story was a tragedy, one that began to look far too similar to katsuki's life—he could not forgo his anger, a dear childhood friend—he decided the only way to stop izuku (and himself) from reaching the fate of patroclus and achilles, was to distance himself from izuku, through whatever harsh means necessary. izuku would be grateful, later, when the "surrogate fate" passed him over.
if only katsuki had realized he was not the protagonist sooner. if only he could stop the sun from burning out.
(katsuki fixes things. it takes time.)
