Summary
If Trinity had a magic lamp, and a genie, and three wishes, she’d ask for these things, in the following order:
1) Langdon to stop having all of his personal crises on the ED floor, mid-shift, in full view of the department
2) One—just one—of her other useless coworkers to see through his bullshit so she didn’t have to do literally everything herself
3) A team of a hundred interns to finish all of her charting, since she was about to have zero free time, seeing as she was the only person willing to address the fact that Langdon was now (evidently) sleeping at the goddamn hospital.

Summary
Frank had noticed it right away, of course, the smell thing, as soon as Robby had introduced her—the pleasant, neutral scent of beta and then the immediate sharp undercurrent of something really, really delicious, like a ripe strawberry that he wanted to dig his teeth into so badly that his mouth began watering.
He had to cover his nose with his fist after that, wondering if a fan had caught her hair weird or something, because why the fuck could he smell her from all the way across the room?
It took him about an hour or two into the shift to come to the somewhat-harrowing conclusion that—shit. Goddamnit. She only smelled like that to him.

Summary
The first bets were placed shortly after the wedding ring disappeared from Langdon’s finger one rainy day in August, never to be seen again. Trinity thinks it’s funny, though she isn’t the most invested, until it all ends up coming to a head in a way more awful than any of them could have predicted.

Summary
[Unknown Number]
It’s just that I’ve got nobody left and you were one of the only people who was nice to me today
I’m sitting alone on a curb downtown watching the last of the fireworks.
I don’t have anyone else to call.
Sorry. I’ll figure it out. Hope these didn’t wake you up
Goodnight Mel
Her hands trembled as she typed her reply.
Mel
Are you okay?
Her phone rang again, and thirty minutes later Doctor Langdon was knocking on her door.
On the Fourth of July, Frank Langdon returns home to a duffle bag waiting for him on the porch.
On the Fifth of July, he wakes up shirtless on Mel King’s couch.
This is the story about that night.

Summary
Mel started receiving strange letters in the mail during her last year of undergrad.
OR
She inhaled jaggedly, heart pounding, nearly on the brink of spilling everything to him. This was the first time she’d ever considered telling someone the whole truth about her situation, other than the police and Becca’s center. She needed to get out of here before she could.
“I need to leave this room before I continue being too honest. I will text you the details.” She separated their hands finally, her heart breaking to lose the physical contact with him, and slid the privacy curtain open, fleeing through the door before she could speak more. One quick glance back at him showed his face aglow with a giant grin, throwing a fist pump into the air and doing an excited half-spin.
OR
Mel's had an anonymous stalker for six years. Having seen no signs of danger since coming to Pittsburgh, she finally allows herself to act on her mutual feelings for her best friend, Frank Langdon. She should have known that she couldn't hide forever.
