"I sit here writing this in my journal wondering what happened to that excited little girl so many many years ago. The girl was willing to do anything to touch the stars. When I look up at the sparkling night sky from the astronomy tower, the stars seem farther. I can no longer reach my hands up and grab them as I had dreamed before. Maybe as you grow older, the small things which brought happiness, seem harder to find again."
This is somewhat of a diary entry from one of my OC. Kinda a short one-shot and stands as a really quick introduction to another book I am currently writing.

I blacked out a couple of times, I guess. I don't remember the game." Shane let out a derisive laugh and Ilya didn't like the sheen of tears in his eyes. "I don't even remember my own team right now. Post-traumatic amnesia."
Ilya's heart stopped.
Amnesia?
"So you do not…" Remember me? Ilya wanted to ask, but he couldn't voice the words. Not with his throat constricted. Not when his heart raced. Everything faded away as white noise filled his head. Tears stung his eyes and his nose burned for some reason.
Shane didn't remember him.

The look on Rozanov’s face.
Hayden knows that look because he’s seen it on his own face, when he was suddenly kicked out of the operating room shortly after the twins were born, when something had gone very wrong with Jackie.
That’s the face that says someone I love, no, someone I’m in love with is hurting and I can’t do a single thing to help.

Cliff was only aiming to push the guy off the puck, maybe disrupt his stride long enough to give Rozanov time to catch up, but Hollander wasn’t expecting the hit, and it caught him at an awkward angle, knocking one of his legs out from under him.
Cliff watched as he slid uncontrolled, his momentum carrying him into the boards ahead of them at full speed. His shoulder hit first, but then Cliff heard his helmet hit the boards with a deafening crack.
For a moment, the arena was deathly silent, as though the whole crowd was holding its breath. Cliff dropped to a crouch above Hollander’s body, still splayed out on the ice. There was blood streaming out of his nose. He wasn’t moving.
