"What happens now?" Luke asked. Patient, observant. Piercing blue eyes like probes peeling back her skin.
Mara Jade closed him off in the Force, just in case. He probably already knew that she was behind on a mission to meet up with a mid-tier smuggler causing trouble. She hadn't been the best at staying closed off throughout the day. Some emotion very much got through, to her intense chagrin.
"Now?" she repeated, voice low like a growl. "Now, I take off this ridiculous outfit and I go to bed." To emphasize her point, she undid the clasps of the structured jacket that had uncomfortably held her frame for the better part of the day. That was as far as things would get in front of Luke, her new husband. They were expected to consummate, but he didn't deserve her intimacy.
As she marched to the bedroom—because of course they were given quarters with a single bedroom—she announced, as haughtily as the high court of the old Empire, "You can sleep on the couch, Jedi."
