As it seems, five years of friendship can be ruined in one single night. L and Light reconnect five years after their messy split, still marred by the loss, and are forced to address things as they come. Namely, why L decided to confess right before leaving.

After fifteen years of knowing about gods and monsters, Will would have thought nothing could surprise him anymore. Demigods learn young to expect the unexpected, and he maybe knows that even better than most. But coming home from Saturday roommate brunch, seven years after Nico broke his heart and just a few months after the long-time-coming breakdown finally ruined his life, to find Nico barely-conscious and bleeding on his doorstep—that’s a little outside the range of life complications even Will would usually account for.
And it definitely wasn’t in Nico's plans. He's finally trying to get his life back together; he doesn’t need to have it derailed by Will’s stupid face and eyes and shoulders. But evidently, the universe—or the Fates—or maybe some deity in particular—has other ideas.

“Jeez, you really are sick.” Will muttered and Mike choked out a laugh.
“‘S just my luck.” He murmured, ignoring the way his head spun when he lifted it from the toilet seat.
Even under the harsh white light of the bathroom, Will still looked good, his honey brown eyes furrowed in concern and lips slightly parted. He was beautiful, and Mike wanted to bite him.
He recoiled a bit at the thought but now that he had thought it, it wouldn't go away. He could imagine it, digging his teeth into Will’s wrist, blood beading from the teeth marks faster than he could lick it up. The rushing in his ears got louder, twin heartbeats thudding in his ears and Mike turned to heave into the toilet again, not even bothering to stop the sobs that were ripping through him.

"They are stupid, dickweed," he replied, "-but I like them. For some weird fucking reason."
Richie felt his heart flutter in his chest, before asking, "How does that make sense?"
"You're stupid," Eddie added -a little too nonchalantly, "-and I like you."
