So, he's going to have to manage handling the consequences of his father's ill-times actions while also trying to stay in Steve's pants. Of whom he literally just tried to start a relationship with.

And maybe it’s the fact that he spent the last three weeks thinking about the night Robby came back, and the absence that has burrowed a hole into his chest, and all the things he has wanted to say but didn’t have the time or the strength to, and the hunger, and Dennis’ ceaseless need to feel useful, maybe that’s what makes him say what he says next.
“You can take it out on me,” he says, almost surprising himself. Robby just looks baffled now, cocking his head and furrowing his brows. Dennis kind of hates how expressive he is sometimes. He continues anyways. “I mean, you can tie me up, do whatever you want to me. As… stress relief.”
“Is that what you want?” Robby asks, still not making eye contact.
“Yes,” Dennis says. He can barely get the word out.
