It was almost easier to have lost someone from before. They still had something from them. An old cracked iPhone that still held pictures and videos of smiling children, a photo album and a stuffed dog from when they were children, wedding rings and a handful of creased photos. It was losing someone after that was hard. Losing someone who you couldn’t take with you was devastating.
