Summary
“Keep me posted. If you need anything, professional or otherwise, call me.”
She won't be calling anyone. That's sort of the point. “Thanks.”
There's a finality, now. And instead of dragging her down, the knowledge that two weeks from now she'll be gone has the weight in her chest lifting. It's been so long since she's felt this that the promise of it makes her high. When she goes home tonight she won’t have to cut open her thighs, because the joy of dying, of leaving all this behind, of the decision that she’s finally made is the only stimulation she needs. There’s no punishment—this is her punishment. And she won’t be here long enough to do anything about it.
Trinity's attempt, and the days around it.

Summary
Trinity Santos wasn’t going to kill herself.
Did she think about it? Yes. Did she joke about it? Yes. Did she actually want to throw herself off the roof and become sidewalk jelly? No.
She just wouldn’t mind if something else did it for her; A car that didn’t slow down in time. An angry patient with a gun. Some bad oysters. If she stays busy enough, useful enough, needed enough, she can keep going for another day. Until one day, the levee breaks and sucks Trinity into a hole she’s not sure she wants to get out of.

Summary
“And, third-ly,” Alice says, faltering for a moment, like she’s still trying to find the words. “I’m not trying to impress your mum, Gemma,” she says softly. “For your information, Bunny already likes me,” she insists, plainly; definitely adds emphasis this time to get under Gemma’s skin. “These-” she gestures to the new bouquet of flowers. “-are for you,” she admits, words seemingly failing her at the last minute, forced out as a quiet little mumble.
It hits Gemma all the same.
She looks at Alice and then at the bouquet —a huge assortment of vivid colours. She definitely can’t say she’s an expert on flowers but at a glance, she can identify some yellow and purple roses, pink hydrangeas, pink peonies, all arranged with careful attention. She wonders briefly if Alice just had the florist pick them or if she was really Alice about it; if she if-ed and but-ed and anxiously overthought the entire thing before just doing it anyway.
She kind of hopes it was the latter.
