Summary
Untitled: Day 2: Dreams (AsuLili Week 2025)
Lili can’t help but yelp as she was kicked back to reality in her bed with sweat on her forehead and her roommate snoring in the background.
“The dream is lying, and I will never sleep again.” Lili shakes her head to regain her composure. She sees Salt judging her as though it doesn’t believe anything she has just said.

Summary
Weeks ago, Lae'zel would never have agreed to a dinner like this. Alcohol dulls the mind and senses; it reduces a soldier into a helpless yanki who will die easily in a goblin camp.
Trust the istiks of this Feyroon to drink themselves senseless with danger at their door. That would never be her.
She pauses, then drinks anyway. -

Summary
How wasteful it is, earning those skills and experience just to play the role of an unappreciated village hero punching mere thugs when she could be fighting worthy opponents and aiming for the top, just as Lili would.
Asuka Kazama doesn’t even know how good she has it.
=======================================
How stupid it is, receiving those privileges on a shiny platter and using these just to do absurd things like bugging her for rematches, when she could've used it to not worry about the things Asuka had been worried about her whole life.
This stuck-up princess, she doesn’t even know how good she has it.

Summary
Unlike the previous mermaids, who had a serene and mystifying aura, this one wore an eternal annoyance on her face, as if she didn't want to be there but had to.
And this one, this one, made her heart skip a beat.

These are supposed to be standalone fics for AsuliliWeek 2024. But for some reason, they started getting connected.
I tried to make each prompt be readable as is, but it would be a better experience to read the whole thing from first to last if you want context to previous events.- Words:

Alternate Shadowzel, where Shadowheart accepted Shar and became a DJ, and Lae'zel became the enemy of Vlaakith. Oh maaaan, this is so good! The affection for each other is still there and is very, very obvious, which makes the aftertaste of Shad's decision all the more bitter. THEY ALMOST HAD WHAT THEY WANTED! BUT SHADOWHEART FUCKED IT UP!
I think the best part here is that it is in Lae'zel's POV. You can see the author tried to apply the "restraint" that holds back Lae'zel (until that restraint gets chattered in Act 3, which doesn't happen here because her love interest gets Sharraned). Minthara's part also adds that additional layer that kinda brings everything together (and she is written in a way that I can't imagine any other companion to play this part other than her). Always thought she and Lae'zel could be besties because they are both strong gungho women lol.
When all of the brain business is done, I wonder how they will act around each other when they see each other again. I think unless Lae'zel finds another lover she would forever harbor her affection for Shadowheart. She is loyal to a fault, but it also makes sense she would only stay with Shadowheart if she will get the whole package. It reminds me again of this song https://youtu.be/b2pjXlooSVE this is so perfect for this alternate ship. Depending on post-canon interactions, I think Lae'zel could try to bring her Shadowheart back, but if she joins Orpheus that ending is impossible.

Bookmarker's Notes
This is so good! So damn good! Lae'zel's struggle is so real. And I love that the author delved into both the mental and physical aspects of it. Like, normally, people won't feel about the struggles of a mindflayer trying to pick up a sword. Now I wonder if Lae'zel would have floating sword attacks like those characters in manhwas do lol.
I also love the addition of Astarion and Wyll here. I think the contrast between Astarion's pettiness and Wyll's compassion really made them feel human despite their newfound tentacles. And it is obvious their presence is one of the biggest reasons Lae'zel found a will (Wyll...jk) to try living again.
Shadowheart's presence is also very subtle in terms of scenes but very impactful in Lae'zel's emotional arc. As a former Sharran and now a mindflayer, it is understandable she won't know how to comfort someone, more so someone who turned into a suicidal mindflayer. It is kind of a different Shadowzel post-caon flavor, but the core of their relationship is still the fact that both of them chose to stay for each other regardless of the circumstances they have and their sense of selves changing over again. And I think that is so beautiful.
(And also, fuck the Emperor)

This is my favorite part of their relationship actually, them catching feelings and they are not trying to hide or deny their truths anymore, but are so broken from their traumas to actually grasp their feelings and offer it to each other like normal people do (I can relate coz I am abnormal lol). Coz from here on there will only be the mellowing of their edges.

Summary
All those of the Prime Material Plane have daemons, an external soul, though anything more specific than that is heavily debated. Each of the Tadfools have their own unique relationship with their daemon and, hopefully, can learn a thing or too from their traveling companions on how to better their relationship with their own.

This has been a very pleasant read! The premise is fresh, and I think all their daemons perfectly represent their souls.
I ESPECIALLY LOVE LAE'ZEL'S RAPTOR AND WYLL'S AURORA!Will definitely adding this one in the re-read list.
