Summary
There's something about thunderstorms that Cas loves, and when Dean suggests they take a drive for date night, Cas is more than happy to stop and sit out on the hood of the Impala to watch the rain with Dean by his side. But maybe Dean has an ulterior motive for taking Cas out to watch the rainstorm. Who doesn't need a little movie magic in their lives?

Sammy can’t even remember what they were fighting about.
He remembers Dean was irritable— probably because Dad was going to be gone longer than he’d thought, which meant at least another week in this dingy motel. Sammy wasn’t happy with it either, but Dean had clenched his jaw and laid on his bed with his arm over his eyes.
Oh, right. Sammy wanted to watch TV, and Dean wanted to sleep. So Dean yelled, and said he was going out.
That was hours ago. Now, it’s two hours past sunset, and Dean still hasn’t come home. Sammy’s getting worried.
or: Sammy goes looking for Dean. He's not alone when Sam finds him.

Summary
Once upon a time, not too long ago, I read a fic while I was at work. I had to stop near the end of a chapter, at a rather critical point, and while I finished my workday, my mind cast about for what would happen next. It came up with all sorts of ideas, some better than others, but finally landed on this. I'm not going to retell the story that originated this. It's called Drops in the Ocean and you can find it here. If you haven't read it already, you should, or this won't make much sense. This story diverges from the original path near the end of Chapter 14, when Cas finds the ACDC tee and cries.
