Summary
He’d met his best friend in elementary school, both super fans of the Star Wars franchise because of how utterly cool it was.
So, making a giant paper star was kind of an extension of that. Something to connect them to the vast intricacies of outer space.
He and MJ used to—wait. He shook his head.
“That can’t be right,” he whispered, scrunching his eyebrows together. “MJ doesn’t like Star Wars like that.”
A parol was supposed to symbolize hope and light in the darkness, like his lola told him. But now in the box with it unplugged and the streets outside looking rather bleak on a winter night, it looked like a dimmed out star instead.
He glanced at one of his most prized possessions that sat displayed atop the coffee table: a LEGO Death Star. Over three thousand pieces and worth hundreds of dollars, a piece that he had won by winning a robotics competition with his best friend, who built it with him.
But.
Something wasn’t right.
