“Oh he wants you bad.” House declared, breaking the silence, smiling diabolically.
“But I’m not-“ Wilson precipitated, baffled and flushed head to toe.
House audibly laughed.
“Well he is. And a flaming one at that! This guy means business.”
Wilson didn’t know what to think about that.
He was almost sure he wasn’t interested, despite his flushed cheeks and a tingling in his stomach one would qualify as “butterflies”.

"Hey." Frowning, he gazes over his shoulder. "Hey, asshat—"

As House records, deflects, deletes, and analyzes, the gaps between entries begin to speak louder than the words themselves. A subject-less email. A coffee left on a desk. A decision made long before either of them admits it exists.
By the time the records stop being records, and start becoming something honest, the outcome feels both inevitable and impossible to avoid.

It didn’t take much. Light was shaking his head before he could change his face and school his expression. Before he could feel anything.
“No,” Light responded, the word seemingly passing right through L. “You’re who I could’ve been with.”
OR
L is dead; Light Yagami has won. But the loneliness he finds thereafter is disturbed by visions of a man who never could let Light bask in his victory. Morals are questioned, and the air is cleared — for better or for worse.
