Summary
Tommy Kinard was not what Buck had been expecting.
Yes, he was as big and broad shouldered as Buck had imagined him, with a handsome face that was dusted with a few days old stubble. His eyes were a deep blue that threatened to drown him the longer he looked.
But he had a gentle thoughtfulness around him as he reached forward to take Buck’s hand.
---
Buck is a storm chaser trying to make a name for himself and his team. When their driver quits and Chimney calls in a favor with an old friend his life is turned upside down like a whirlwind.
Tommy was content with his unexciting, boring life until his old friend Howie called him for a "favor" in exchange for a summer of adventure. After meeting Evan he's not sure he can ever go back to the life he lived before.

Summary
“I can come back another time, if you want.”
Tommy looks Buck up and down. Buck can only imagine how he looks: hair salty and wild, wrinkled beach clothes. Fuck, he’s even still in his swim trunks.
It doesn’t matter. Tommy is here. Buck has waited so long for Tommy to come back into his life, and now he’s standing on Buck’s front step, beautiful in the fading sunlight. He’s not letting Tommy get away again. Not until they’ve talked this out.
“No,” he repeats. “Please come in.”
He gives Tommy his best serious look. In return, Tommy gives Buck his best skeptical look as he walks through the door.
Buck shuts the door and turns around to face Tommy. Despite the toddler mess, despite his disheveled state, despite everything, he’s so glad that Tommy is here. The air in the room seems to warm up, the quiet settling into serenity.

Summary
“Grey.”
Tommy raises an eyebrow, amused. Buck doesn’t give him a chance to charge up whatever sarcastic comment he sees forming behind his eyes.
“Sorry, I mean, hey. Uh, hey, your- you have a lot more grey in, uh, in your beard.”
“And you have a toddler.”

Summary
Tommy was halfway through what he termed a human slug day—a day when he refused all productivity and human contact in favor of snacks on the couch and watching his favorite gay indie movies—when Evan showed up at his door and said, “We were parked in your car in our neutral meeting place, the Episcopalian churchyard.”
He really wished he had shaved and bothered to do anything with his hair and also was wearing a pair of sweatpants that were not more hole than actual pant. If he was wishing for impossible things, might as well throw in Bobby being alive and him keeping his fucking mouth shut that morning in Evan’s kitchen. “I don’t follow,” he said apologetically. “Do you need something?”
Evan’s face twisted in frustration. “I had things I’d been meaning to say, but in the dazzling winter sun that late, I could feel them melt away.”
That did the opposite of clear anything up, although the words itched at the part of his brain that collected facts and lyrics and useless bits of trivia. “Are you having a stroke? Am I having a stroke?” He patted his pocket for his phone. “I feel like one of us should be calling 911.”
In which Buck speaks in tongues.
