Summary
A low hum coated the room, a thick and stagnant mist. Tentatively, shakily, the expendable’s footsteps echoed throughout the chasm, slowly approaching the crystal. Her hands were quivering, but her composure was kept. Nova still couldn’t believe that this was real, the pain that was thrashing throughout her body, however, was very real. She had come into contact with a very determined wall-dweller who had given her quite a struggle. Limping slightly, she approached the crystal with hesitation. She had to squint to look at it from the brightness, yet it still could not illuminate the bottom of the pit looming below her feet, separated by only solder, metal and the very little will to live she had left. She approached a console, littered with buttons and levers, her fingers slowly hovering over the lever that would give her access to the crystal.
“I can’t let you leave here with that.”
A deep voice sliced through the silence that shook through the room. Clear and cohesive, but a direct statement that didn’t quite sit right with the surrounding atmosphere.
“Sebastian?”
