Summary
“Don’t!” She exclaims as she presses her palms against the trauma room one doors to keep them shut. Her voice sounds muffled through the glass. The first thing he notices is that she’s holding the top of her shirt over her nose, the second is that her hands are shaking. Lastly, he sees a fine, white powder on her gloves that is smudging against the glass.
“Dr. Langdon, listen to me.” She says, her words slurring with each other given how fast she is talking. “You have to go call poison control.”
He frowns as he looks behind her. Then he sees it.
On the floor, right next to the gurney of the patient they were treating for a simple head lac moments ago, lays an envelope. Surrounding it is a white powder, now spread across the floor. A cloud of it is still dissipating on top of it, after it must have fallen to ground.
Dissipating right in the air that Mel is breathing.
Or: When a patient arrives with an envelope filled with mystery white powder, Mel finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mel is resolved to help, Frank is desperate to get her out.

Santos rolled her eyes so hard it looked like they might pop out of their sockets. “I’ve only managed to convince Mel to go out with me, like, three times since the Fourth, and all those times involved a lot of begging that I honestly just don’t have the energy for. But I know for sure she’ll come if you come, so… You gotta come.”

Mel stood up too, still holding Frank’s hand, and the sight of it made Becca so mad. “Becca. Come on, please. I– I thought you wanted me to get a partner?”
“Not one I’m friends with!”
“Wha– Why is that a bad thing?” Frank asked quietly, looking very confused. Becca would’ve made fun of him if she wasn’t so angry.
