    Summary

In the back of the ambulance, Eddie was in the middle of rechecking vitals for the injured patient when he suddenly heard the sirens stop wailing, immediately jolting up from what he was doing. “What the hell…?”
When Eddie looked up he saw the glint off the metal of the gun the guard with him was holding, gaze instantly locking onto the threat. His hands over the patient stilled, and his eyes narrowed into a glare. It was made worse when he recognized the eyes he was glaring into, his anger too strong for his rising panic to bother him at all.
“Hey there, Eddie.” The man grinned, taking his hat off as the disguise was no longer doing him any good. “Miss me?”
“...Axel.” Eddie greeted, teeth clenched so hard he could feel pain in his jaw.
Axel just continued to smile, the gesture menacing. “‘Cause I certainly missed you.”

    Summary

“He told me he loved me.” Buck’s voice was quiet, fragile. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to block out the sting that came with the memory. “I didn’t say it back.”

He let out a shaky breath, rubbing his face with both hands, his chest heaving. The pain, the grief—it had never left him, but now it was raw, it was real, and it was breaking through everything he had tried to hold back.

“I didn’t say it, Eddie,” he whispered, voice cracking. “I didn’t… I didn’t even say it. And now he’s gone.”

    OR

After a rescue mission ends in collapse, Buck and Eddie find themselves trapped with no radio, no way out, and too much unsaid between them. In the quiet between disasters, they’ll finally face what’s always been there. Post-8x17.

    Summary

“I think maybe Pepa's setting you up with the wrong people,” Buck blurts out.

“I did like him, he just–”

“I mean–” Buck huffs, and then he really gets going, “he’s basically just some–some emotionally unavailable douche who dragged you all the way out to Studio City fully intending to ditch you until he realized he had a chance to get in your pants, which–where, in some restroom? And don’t even get me started on–like, you said you sucked his dick, but what about you? Did he even get you off? That doesn’t sound very considerate! Frankly, he sounds like a terrible guy, and you should let me set you up with someone!”

Eddie’s brain isn’t going remotely as fast as Buck’s, because he’s still slowly making his way from his first thought (did I ever tell him I was meeting Matt in Studio City?) to his second one (has he been thinking about if and how I got off this whole time?) when Buck says that last part, and then it takes another moment to sink in. He blinks at the table. He blinks at Buck. “I’m sorry, what was that?”

Or: Eddie comes out, Pepa takes the initiative, and Buck follows her lead.

    Summary

''What are the facts here, Buck? Tell me them! Because you should know that none of this, absolutely none of the fucked up shit you tell yourself is true. Not even the slightest bit,''

    ''It's facts that you want?''

    ''You know I do,''

''Fine, Eds. Here they are, we both know I should be in that coffin six-feet under instead of Bobby,''

''You didn't..'' Didn't what? Didn't just say that? No, Eddie couldn't ask that because he knows too well that Buck had said it. ''I need you to repeat that, what did you just say, Buck?''

Eddie swallows. He wants to weep, to cry. Cry until there's nothing left. His eyes burn, but he has nothing else to give.

He's broken from his spiraling thoughts finding that Buck still hasn't responded.

''No,'' Eddie bleats. ''No, you can't - you cannot say something like that, Buck, don't..''

''It should've been me, Eddie. It always should've been me instead of Bobby,'' Buck insists, eyes squeezed shut. Willing the fresh gleam of tears to not cascade down the blonde's cheeks. ''And I'd reverse our roles instantly, I'd be the one in that coffin if it wasn't already nailed shut,''
