Summary
Viktor and Jayce haven't talked in six years since the multiple avoidable events that led them both to, professionally speaking, 'no longer wish to communicate with each other.'
Now, Jayce does experiments and haphazardly tests theories in his apartment hours from Piltover, and Viktor got his professor position at The Academy. Everything is fine, so to speak, with their current situation.
Except it isn't, and Viktor has broken their years of silence to ask Jayce to meet with him. Jayce now has to struggle with the emotions of their previous ordeal, and an entire new one set to wreck him differently.
Viktor is dying, and they both have a year to fix everything that happened. The question is, are they willing?
