Summary
A story of incredible loss, and then what comes after.
'Aren't you gonna lay down?' Bonecrusher signs. 'It's late.'
"Oh we can't," says Mixmaster from where he's tucked up under Long Haul's arm.
'The frag not?' signs Bonecrusher. 'Don't tell me you ain't tired?'
Mixmaster gestures slowly but dramatically at their laps. Across them, stretching from Long Haul's left thigh and over both of Mixmaster's, is a bright white and dark black shape that contrasts sharply with all of their paint.
'Okay? So wake him up, or pick him up, or whatever?'
"He's fast asleep," whispers Mixmaster, aghast. "We can't. What if he gets up and leaves?"
'Let him leave?!' This is ridiculous.
"You know, I think we're fine. More than fine, really."
Bonecrusher swings around to squint at Scavenger. 'And what's your excuse?'
Scavenger gestures at the itty bitty overlap of a single white foot on the edge of his thigh.
Bonecrusher is in a sparkbond with absolute clowns.

[I got lucky,] Scavenger has a better argument, [and lucked out picking the best possible guy.]
Prowl scoffs.
Scavenger squeezes him. [I love you. A lot.]

Summary

Meanwhile, Jazz keeps himself busy these days as part of the ragtag group of revolutionaries who have been drawn to a charismatic young archivist by the name of Orion Pax. He’s been working on the outskirts of the Cybertronian caste system his entire life, and has a lifetime of tricks from just about every trade. Being Orion Pax’s righthand mech is a hard enough job, but it only gets harder when the unrest comes to a head, changing all of their lives at once, and putting Jazz at the center of the very system he has fought against…
And then, of course, that’s not even bringing up the illegal sparkling, Senator Proteus’s machinations, or Prowl’s TacNet acting strangely.

Prowl, widowed consort of King Tarantulas of Polyhex, finds himself making a humiliating bargain with his bonded’s assassin and successor in order to save his own life and that of his sparkling. King Jazz, meanwhile, is looking forward to helping Prowl get back to his normal life and away from courtesan politics… not that he asked Prowl about it first.

2 So far, the war was mostly in a cold phase, with everyone having retreated to their separate corners and mostly dealt with it by making big dramatic speeches and publishing religious treatises. But also both sides were massing armies and raising funds and sending spies. Bumblebee’d had to chase Buzzsaw away from Jazz’s coronation with a broom, and Blaster reported, irately, that Rewind had been sent back to Iacon in a box. Not in pieces or anything, just in a box. With a bow and everything, because Frenzy thought he was funny like that.
(Blaster might have been more willing to find it funny if Rewind had been sent home, rather than to his secret boyfriend’s house, which is how Blaster had met Chromedome. Instead, Jazz had to valiantly not laugh anywhere that Blaster would ever find out.)
5 And to be even more fair to Jazz, Mirage hadn’t realized how much of a disaster letting Prowl go over to the Decepticons would have been. It would have been bad, of course, but he’d thought that was for fairly normal reasons. But Megatron didn’t care about castes dictating what someone could or couldn’t do, especially not noble castes, even though he rolled his eyes and complained about them. The moment Prowl started speaking in tactics, and making sense, he wouldn’t care who was saying it. If he thought Prowl could be trusted and was competent, Prowl would be the one directing the invasion of Polyhex.
So Mirage’s most important job, right now, more than saving Jazz’s throne, more than getting Prowl into Optimus’s war room, was to keep him away from Megatron.

Summary
Shockwave is a Decepticon sparkling who has decided to run away with Bumblebee. Bumblebee has been undercover with the Decepticons for way too long and is ready to call it quits on this entire infiltration-spy-mission. Bumblebee doesn't really like this creepy sparkling who has decided to latch onto him, but whatever, the kid is smart and useful.
Shockwave has accepted scraps of affection in the past, but he's recently learned a Cool New Trick to force Bumblebee to show that he cares: Putting himself in danger!
