Summary
Don heaves a big, shaky sigh, reaches up and scrubs his hands across his face, smudging his tears. He looks so awfully young for a moment, and Bobby wants to take it all back, wants to spare Don from himself, wants to go back in time and quit crewing before he ever sat across Don in a racing shell. Before he ruined Don.
“I think I’ve been waiting for you to say that for the past nine years,” he says with a little laugh, “and you finally say it when it doesn’t change anything.”The boys reunite in 1945. Bobby goes home with Don.

“You will be our eyes and hands in the timeline of the prophecy. You will do what we ask of you, you will wield this hammer as we command. You will handle the anomalies and keep problematic strands in line. You will ensure the correct progression of events and you will do so at any cost, even your own life. You are for us what that hammer is for you. Our weapon. A role you are not unfamiliar with.”
Angus has a chat with the Starlords after the events of Maleficus Geminus.

Summary
“Do you want to try to sleep?” he asks, one half of him hoping Roger says yes – he needs it, judging by the dark circles under his exhaustion-dull eyes – and the other, selfish half hoping he says no, that he’ll understand the meaning behind the question and ask Chuck to stay and talk with him, or read to him, or keep him entertained in any fashion. Chuck would do anything to have him laugh again. Or just smile. He’d settle for a smile.
“Not really. Doubt I’d manage it if I tried, either.” There’s a tinge of annoyance in Roger’s tone. Chuck knows it’s not directed at him – it must be awful for Roger to lie about in a mousehole of a cabin for days on end, retching up what little food or drink he can get down, and missing out on all the fun everyone else is having during their first transatlantic voyage.Roger spends the first couple days on board the SS Manhattan terribly seasick. Chuck attempts to take care of him, and things only get more complicated from there.

Summary
“I died,” Zargothrax said, sounding surprised to his own ears. He did, he remembered it clearly: that pesky McFife kid and the Lords-damn Hootsman, clear as day. He remembered the final blow. He actually remembered Ralathor himself, their eyes locking for a moment before it all went black. Before he woke up here.
“Very astute,” said the voice of Ralathor from somewhere. Zargothrax couldn’t see him. “I need to check your vitals, and then you can get up once your limbs have warmed through enough to move.”Deep beneath Dundee, a clone wakes from his frozen slumber.

Summary
The team's first mission post-film goes pretty well, but no one's really as happy about it as they'd like to be. Nicky and Joe take advantage of their hotel room's luxurious shower to check in with each other and think about where they've been and where they're going.

Summary
“Proof of concept,” ♫♬♯♩♩♫ says. “We’ve tested it thoroughly to ensure it fits the specified nutritional profile, and several members of our team have ingested small amounts of it to ensure there were no adverse effects.”
“You ate some of it?” I ask, rudely. I’m too irate to mind my language. Who do they think they are? That meat is for Grace. In a way, that meat is Grace.
“Yes,” ♫♬♯♩♩♫ says. They and the rest of the human life support thrum know better than to be offended by my occasionally strange behaviour. “Obviously we weren’t going to risk the life of Honoured Grace on a completely untested technology.”
That doesn’t mean much. There’s a lot of things that are safe for ingestion by Eridians that would outright kill a human.
Trust Grace, I remind myself. He’ll have thought of all this.
(OR: Grace's meburgers from the book epilogue. Let's talk about those!)
