mel king wanted five quiet days in italy, no pager, no residents, no emergencies.
instead, the airline lost her luggage, the trains went on strike, her phone died in the middle of nowhere, and frank langdon crossed an ocean because she “sounded like she needed somebody.”
basically: bad travel luck, italy, a terrible little fiat, a song, rome, and two people slowly realizing they might be in a lot more trouble than they thought.
