Work Text:

"Cyborg cider man number 2!" Saiki looked up. As Yuuta held out a blue teddy bear. "Come on! I want to play hero's and villains!" The kid's eyes lit up, as Kusuo took the teddy bear, moving to sit on the ground with the rest of Yuuta's toys.
"You can be cyborg cider man version 1! And I'll be the evil Mr. Peanut!" Yuuta paused a second before running to grab another toy.
It was a brown action figure. "My brother use to play with this one! He was always the bad guy!"
'Well where's your brother now?'
"He's in college..! My mom says he wants to be an engine!"
'You mean engineer.'
"Mom says he'll be back for Christmas! You should meet him!"
'I'll pass.'
"He's really cool! He built me this!" Yuuta moved toward the door , running out of the room, leaving the psychic to his thoughts. It was weird to hear a younger sibling with an older brother worth praise. The older brothers he usually met.. were low if we're going off standards.
Of course he knew good older brother's existed. It just wasn't common he'd run into them.
His thoughts wondered back to Yuuta, and what he had said about his older brother. Kusuke and him played together when they were younger. But it was more Kusuke forcing him into dumb games as a way to prove he was better.
It was never something as simple as stuffed animals and action figures, and stupid storylines. If he had ever asked his brother to a game like this, he'd just ruin it for Kusuo, like he did with every game they played.

A familiar head a blue hair ran back in. "Look! I found it!"
Saiki stared at it. It looked like a music box. The wood was engraved with a Japanese scripture. It said "Brother"
Yuuta moved to open the lid as the psychic reached out quickly on impulse. He stopped, looking at his hand. Why'd that happen?
Oh. Gifts from  brothers and explosions were a connection he'd made, due to his own experiences.

He mentally kicked himself. Yuuta's brother wasn't anything like Kusuke. Could he calm down?

"Look!" Kusuo's attention moved back to the box. The inside was very pretty to say the least. It had intricate designs, the moved around the inside.
And instead of the normal ballerina, it was a superhero, an old one. Saiki only knew him, because of his own need to read old or unpopular comics to avoid spoilers.

"It's Superhero man!"

'Creative name.'

Yuuta shut the box, running to put it back. The blue boy's feet made contact with the teddy bear as he went tumbling to the ground, Saiki moved quickly, teleporting to catch the younger boy.
Unfortunately, the music box wasn't so lucky. The box hit the ground, cracking in half. The younger exploded into tears. "Superhero man!"

Saiki moved to restore it, but the door clicked open before he could. Yuuta's mom entered with a man Kusuo didnt recognize.
"Yuuta! Hunny, what's wrong?"
Yuuta looked up, tears quickly drying. "Brother!" He got up off the floor running toward the other man.
Saiki just stood there not quite sure what to say. He moved toward Yuuta's mother, showing her the broken music box. And bowing, as to leave.

"Oh Saiki-san, thank you for watching Yuuta today, This is his older brother, Kaito."
'Kaito' gave a smile a stuck his hand out, his other still had Yuuta in a small hug. Handshake. Must've been studying in America. Saiki shook it, letting go and moving toward the door. "It's nice to meet you, have a good holiday!"
The family waved goodbye to him, as he closed their door behind him.

Saiki stood there on their porch a moment. Listening to the conversation inside. Yuuta's brother.. or Kaito, found out the music box was broken. He said he'd fix it later, and Yuuta had dragged him over to play hero's and villains with his toys. Their mom walked into the kitchen to help their father cook dinner. It was such a normal family scene.

Saiki moved again, walking toward his door. His brother was home for the holidays too, it seemed. He tuned out his family, focusing on Yuuta's once again.

He walked further, reaching the park. He took a seat on a random swing, as something cold hit his cheek. What? What was that?
He touched his cheek following from where it was cold. Oh. They were tears.
What. Why was he crying? Saiki's brow furrowed. His thoughts turned again to Yuuta's family. He knew why he was maybe a little bit upset. But not to a crying point? He shouldn't be getting upset over something so.. human.
That was the only word he could use, that described it. Human. He wasn't human though. He was an entirely different species in every way.

He wasn't use to feeling this down. It was weird. He wished he'd grown up how Yuuta was. An older brother who actually cared about him. A dad who wasn't such a useless excuse for a father figure. A mother who was.. normal.
He loved his family... or well his parents. But he wished he had a family that wasn't so dependent on him.

No, not him.

His powers. They cause all of this, huh? He took a breath, letting out laughter. I guess this was the most normal he'd felt in a long time.
Sitting on a swing, on Christmas, trying to get away from his own home. He'd heard the thoughts of kids who did this before. The park was always in the 20 meter radius, he never thought anything of it. Seeing as most of their reasons were always understandable.

Why couldn't Kusuke been a better person? Why did he always get the small end of the stick. He's stuck with the stupid 'genius' who didn't even try to be a brother, just a rival. Or a superior. He didn't get gifts like Yuuta did, he just got challenges and explosions. His brother never played stupid kid stuff like hero's and villains, just games where he could win, granted he never did.
It was weird. The only other brothers he knew of were Teruhashi, and Kaido. Kaido was an older brother, but he constantly lied to his younger brother for validation so.. And Teruhashi's was.. Well. Yknow.

Saiki stood up after a little, as much as he'd love to stay out all night. His family might come looking for him, and the last thing he wanted was more time with them then needed. He walked toward his home, the gate clicking open.
He opened the door only to be hit with the normal, his mother running up to hug him, and slug a Christmas hat over his 'hairpins.' His father begging to be teleported back to his work, to grab something he forgot.
His grandma running up to him as well to hold him a in a hug and say happy holidays and that he should visit more.
His grandfather sitting at the table as if he couldn't care less when his thoughts said the opposite.

The only one that differed from the usual was, of course it was. His brother. He looked toward the wall, Kusuke was leaning on. The older was leaning there. Just watching him.
Not too different then. Kusuo moved to sit down at the table, Kusuke moved as well, sitting next to him.
"So where have you been Kusuo?"

"He was watching Yuuta! The neighbors kid, an adorable little boy! He's so cute, don’t you think, Ku!"

"No. I mean after, I saw him walk past the house, a few hours ago." Kusuke shrugged.

'Park.'

His mom tilted her head, "Why the park, Ku?"
Kusuo shrugged, as Kusuke looked at him again, brows furrowing.
He knew something was up, why? God, Saiki moved looking his brother in the eye. It was too late for him to start caring.
It was just.. too late.

"Hey buddy! Hi buddies mom! I was walking past and thought I'd stop by!"

Oh right. This is still based off a comedy anime.
