Chapter Text
Long long ago, in a time where Tevyat was ravaged by unholy gods and unsightly demons.
There were seven seats, reserved for seven victors.
Only the most dauntless, most erudite, most noble of gods may claim these seats.
To be anointed as the seven strongest beings in Tevyat.
So the gods of Tevyat, thousands of them, fought each other tooth and nail for a chance to win this noble celestial seat.
Some fought for love. Some for honor. Others for bloodlust and rage.
Those who were weak perished. That is the rule. The only one that matters, anyways.
The first seat to be claimed was that of the anemo archon.
The great sentient wind, old as time, with a body that could bring down mountains, and most importantly - love for the humans he sought to protect, had brought freedom and song into a formerly shackled kingdom.
With his newly gained powers, the wind took on the form of a friend. Arms, legs and lastly a pair of great white wings. For in spite of his human facade, he remains a creature of the skies. A geometrical halo adorned the side of his head, glowing blue and green with anemo powers. His eyes an azure blue, also glowing with power.
He descended from Celestia with others like him, the thousand winds who had fought alongside him. With a flick of his wrists, he gave them forms and names as well.
The harbingers of Celestia's cycle.
Thousands of them bowed before their siege. Similar in appearance, humanoid with wings attached to their backs and geometrical halos adorning their heads. Circular geometric tattoos adorning their arms and legs.
His Flügels.
They appear as youthful angels, feminine and beautiful sights to behold. Very much unlike the unsightly monsters that serve other gods. But they are more alike to demons, as they hold powers of mass-destruction and are designed for the massacre and genocide of gods. For the thousand winds are formed, and given sentience by their master with the intent to cut down those who dare challenge his will.
It is also a part of Barbatos’ strategy to spread rumors across the land of his status as a weak god. This ensures - as much as possible - that the monsters sent by the other gods to torment his land are not creatures of great battle caliber. After all, larger battles within his territory would pose high risk to the humans he had sworn to protect. But anyone who has met the god himself on the battlefield - well outside of his territory, far from residences - would beg to differ.
Even the mightiest of gods cower at the appearance of a single one of these mesmerizingly beautiful winged ladies. In a fight, they can fire magical arrows infused with powerful anemo endlessly from great heights. As elemental beings, they are capable of conjuring defensive and offensive spells that make the city of freedom an impenetrable fortress.
One of their signature magical abilities is teleportation, which allows them to effortlessly teleport to any location that they can see, or wherever it is that they have visited. This made them a serious threat during the war, as they can practically show up in a flurry of anemo and wreak havoc without warning anytime, anywhere.
However, years of fighting made the Flügels yearn for bloodlust and war. After the last of the seven seats was secured, the god of freedom offered his loyal servants the same gift of freedom that he had given to humans 600 years before. Needless to say, the Flügels were mortified. With the war coming to a close, the Flügels would have been driven to madness and self harm as they lost their purpose. It was with this in mind that Barbatos, with tears flowing endlessly from his eyes, put his army of god-killers to rest by sending them off into deep slumber, until the day comes when they will be needed once more to safeguard Mondstadt.
