Lie Awake and Scream

Summary:

Now I lie awake and scream,
In the zero gravity,
And it's starting to weigh down on me,
Let's abort this mission now,
Can I please come down?"

~~~~~~
"He just went through an awful lot of crap." Sam sighed. "We can't expect him to talk about anything yet, especially not Ben. Ben is old trauma, and right now he needs to deal with the new trauma."
"Ok, fine." Tony nodded. "What do you suggest?"
"Right now he needs to relax. Get his mind far away from Osborn, and then, once he's healed and settled in, he needs some major therapy."
~~~~~~

"Another nightmare, huh?" May softly smiled at him, casually sitting at the end of Peter's bed.

"When did I fall asleep?" Peter groaned.

"Why would I know?" May laughed, helping him relax. "I'm you; I'm just in your head."

OR Five times Peter hung out with the Avengers, and the one time he couldn't.

Chapter 1: Disneyland

Summary:

Avengers + Disney = Chaos

Notes:

The pacing. . .is horrible.

The writing? Horrible.

The update schedule? Horrible.

Hotel? Trivago.

I'm sorry, I haven't been feeling very confident as a writer. And I keep seeing all these mistakes and plotholes and tell myself it's ok, but I'm trying to decide if I want to put this book on an official hiatus to edit, or if y'all would prefer I just power through till the end.

If you happen to notice any mistakes (grammar, spelling, plot, etc.) please kindly speak up!

Anyways.

For the favorite Disney princesses and movies, I looked up the actor's preferences (bc most of the characters don't have favorites).

Thank you for being so patient and supportive! Life has been busy and tough (I just took the ACT and am now studying for SAT), but y'all make it better <33 I'm going to graduate from high school (as valedictorian !!) in a couple of months, so I have a lot on my plate rn, but y'all are so nice and cheerful!

Chapter Text

((Wednesday, May  14 ))

Peter woke up alone in the dark and quickly realized he was in the Medbay. He turned around to the table sitting next to his bed, glancing at the clock resting on top of it. He sighed as he read that it was only three in the morning.

He rolled onto his back so he was facing the ceiling. Tears pricked his eyes as he let out a shaky breath.

He was home.

Peter slowly allowed himself to relax, until a figure moved in the corner of his eye. He sat up, fingers curling into the blankets, heart racing.

". . .Hello?" He softly called out.

"Hello, Peter," Friday responded, spooking the boy for a moment. "Welcome back, it is good to see you again."

"Hi, Fri. . .are we alone? Are we the only ones in here?"

"I am not in the room with you, given that I do not have a physical body-"

"I know, I know." Peter cut her off. "I mean, am I the only one in here?"

"Yes, Peter. Would you like other company? I can wake up Mr. Stark for you?" She offered, but Peter kindly turned her down.

"No, that's ok. I was just. . .making sure. Just double-checking, that's all."

"Alright. May I suggest you sleep now?"

"Sure." Peter laid down. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight Peter." Friday went quiet, leaving him alone. The boy found himself staring at the wall for hours, only falling asleep when the sun started to rise

~~~~~~
"When is he going to wake up?" A voice whispered, waking Peter up. Thanks, Clint.
Peter let out a mental sigh, half out of relief that he was no longer alone, half out of annoyance that his loneliness was disturbed.
The struggles of a teenager.
Peter sat up, a tiny, hesitant smile on his face. There was the entire team, along with Pepper and Happy. "I'm awake now - Good morning everyone."
The air quickly went awkward as no one knew what to say, especially Tony. Well, what could any of them say?! "Oh hey Petey, welcome back, glad you're no longer being tortured! Also, we discovered your uncle is a piece of-"
Yeah, that wouldn't go well with a traumatized child. Tony's heart clenched at that thought - Peter is just a kid, his kid.
Steve cleared his throat. "It's afternoon. Missed saying morning 'bout an hour and a half ago."
"Oh." Was all Peter said, and then, "What's everyone doing here?"
"We're here to see you, Peter." Natasha smiled, her eyes soft and gentle. "You just went through a lot, and we wanted to be here and support you."
"Yes! The mighty Avengers cannot abandon a fellow warrior in their time of need!" Proclaimed Thor.
Tears sprung to Peter's eyes, and he swallowed the lump forming in his throat. "Thanks, guys. . .and thank you for saving me. . ."
"Of course kid." Tony stepped forward, moving to place his hand on Peter's leg. However, as his hand reached out, Peter flinched, causing Tony's hand to pause and then drop back to his side. Guilt bloomed in Peter's chest, but he couldn't dwell on it as Tony continued. "We will always be there to save you."
"I'm getting hungry, what about you guys?" Sam piped up.
"Ooo, yes! Let's get pizza!" Clint cheered as Bucky nodded his head in silent agreement.
"What do you want, Peter?" Pepper asked. He scrunched his nose as he thought about it.
"I don't know, I'm kinda in the mood for cheeseburgers." He shrugged.
Tony's eyes lit up, the corners crinkling as he smiled, Pepper and Happy sharing a pleasant look. "Cheeseburgers sound nice."
~~~~~~

((Monday, May  19 ))

Peter spent most of his days resting in bed, but he was finally deemed healthy enough to move into his room in the tower. He overheard his doctor telling Tony and Pepper to make sure Peter ate enough, and oh boy, did they take that as a challenge.

Every time they saw him, they would offer him some kind of snack. He understood why they were doing this, food was kinda spotty during his forced "vacation," and heavens knew how hard it was to eat before that at Ben's, but still, Peter just. . .isn't hungry.

Peter was currently laying on his bed, staring at the ceiling in boredom, when he saw something move in the corner of his eye. He jerked up, scanning the room for an intruder, but found nothing. He let out a sigh, trying to calm his racing heart, only to let out a shriek.

There, right next to him, was Norman Osborn, face blank as he stood there, staring.

Peter fell off his bed in blind panic, ignoring Friday's queries as he rushed out of the room. He made a beeline to the elevator, going to the common room, praying someone was in there.

Thankfully, there was. Tony was tapping his fingers on the counter, his brow furrowed in deep thought as he waited on a cup of coffee. He turned around when he saw Peter enter.

"Oh hey, kid. . ." He looked a little uncomfortable, though Peter barely picked up on it as his heart was still racing. "Perfect timing, I need to talk to you."

Peter suddenly inhaled sharply.

Osborn.

Norman - it can't be Osborn, he's dead, Peter killed him, I killed him killed him killed him - had followed Peter into the kitchen. The ghost stood next to Tony, still stony and blank, unyielding in his staring.

"T-Talk to me?" Peter forced out, all of his attention on Osborn. "About what?"

"About Ben."

Peter's eyes snapped to Tony's, but as he looked away, he saw Osborn start to move. He quickly returned his attention to Norman, returning him to his statue-like state.

"What about. . ." Peter wheezed. Why was it so hard to breathe?

Norman smiled.

"Steve and Nat went to look for you while you were, y'know. . ."

"No. . ." Peter gasped, Tony's words barely registering because Osborn Osborn Osborn-

"They talked to Ben, and-"

"Stop," Peter begged. Osborn stepped closer to Tony.

"And we're worried, the team and I, that is, that things are going on at home-"

"Leave us alone!" Peter screamed. Tony immediately stopped talking.

"Peter, I. . ." He trailed off as he noticed Peter wasn't looking at him, but rather right next to him. Tony turned his head, only to find nothing. "What are you looking at?"

Peter blinked, reluctantly looking away from the spot and at Tony. "N-nothing, just. . nothing. Can we. . .not talk right now, please?"

Tony swallowed. "Peter, this is serious-"

"Please."

His voice was soft and tired, it sounded like he was about to cry. Tony sighed and nodded his head. "But you're living with us until we talk, okay? No. . .no going back home, alright?"

Peter nodded. "Alright. . ." They stayed there in tense silence for a few moments until Peter finally left the room.

~~~~~~
It was just Steve, Nat, and Peter together that afternoon. Dinner wasn't for a couple of hours, so everyone was doing their own thing. Steve was drawing at the coffee table while Natasha read on the couch; Peter didn't want to be alone in case Osborn appeared again, so he laid on the fluffy rug by Natasha's feet, thoughts of what Tony said swirling around in his head.
"You comfortable down there, Peter?" Natasha interrupted the warm atmosphere. Peter nodded, giving her a hum as a response. "Okay. . ."
"Does Ben miss me?" Peter suddenly piped up before she could return to her book. "Is he doing okay? Tony mentioned you guys went to him. . ."
Natasha and Steve shared a look, and Steve put down his pencil and moved from his seat to sit down in front of Peter, next to Natasha.
"Why do you. . .why do you ask, Peter?" Steve cautiously asked. The teenager bit his lip, the skin healing in less than a minute.
"Does he miss me?" He repeated, ignoring Steve. The couple looked at each other, unsure of what to say.
"No," Nat whispered. "No, he- no."
Peter looked away so they couldn't see his tears. He shifted a little, considering sitting up, but decided to just stay laying down. "Is he doing okay?"
"No."
". . .is he mad at me?"
"Peter-" Steve tried to say, but Natasha placed a hand on his thigh, shaking her head. ". . .yes, he's mad. . .I'm sorry."
Peter let out a sob, throwing his arm over his face as his body shook with grief. Wordlessly, Natasha and Steve climbed onto the floor with him, each laying on one of his sides.
~~~~~~

"He completely freaked out when I brought up Ben." Tony groaned, sitting with Sam. The other man nodded his head.

"I was worried he would." Sam let out a small sigh. "He just went through an awful lot of crap. We can't expect him to talk about anything yet, especially not Ben. Ben is old trauma, and right now he needs to deal with the new trauma."

"Ok, fine." Tony leaned forward. "What do you suggest?"

"Right now he needs to relax. Get his mind far away from Osborn, and then, once he's healed and settled in, he needs some major therapy."

"And then we can deal with Ben?"

"Absolutely."

~~~~~~
((Tuesday, May  20 ))
"How bad is it, Bruce?" Tony whispered despite being alone with the man in his lab. Clint was hidden above them in the vents, eavesdropping on their conversation about Peter.
"He's doing better," Bruce answered honestly. "He is nearly healed 100% - any pain or discomfort he's feeling is. . .well, mental. Just- just phantom pains."
Clint frowned at that. He's been tortured before and has his own experience phantom pains, but geez Peter's so young, and he and the Avengers were supposed to protect people, especially good people like Peter, and-
-and this was all his fault.
He could've stopped Peter from getting into the car, he could've sought him out the moment he was worried about him.
Clint was to blame!
"Phantom pains." Tony ran a hand over his face. "What about scars? Is his healing- taking care of that?"
Oh gosh, please, at least let the kid have that!
Bruce sadly shook his head. "It's too early to tell. . ."
They sat in silence for a few moments until Bruce spoke up again. "The best thing to do is make sure he's entertained, kept busy, and eating. Start looking into therapists. Also, try to get him to sleep more, he looks pretty. . .exhausted."
"Yeah, I think I'm gonna ask Friday to track his sleep." Tony agreed. "Oh, before I leave, Sam told me Peter needs to focus on relaxing. You also mentioned keeping him entertained; any ideas?"
The doctor shrugged. "Movie nights, a trip out of the tower, have him see his friends, stuff like that."
A trip out of the tower. . .wait!
Clint's eyes lit up as the perfect idea popped into his head. He quickly started scurrying out of the vents.
He messed up before, but he could help the kid now!
~~~~~~

"Can someone please go tell Clint he's going to be late for dinner?" Pepper Potts asked as everyone was sitting down at their seats at the dining table. Tony raised an eyebrow.

"Why send someone when we can just ask Friday?"

"Do I never get a break?" The AI interrupted, causing everyone to jump in surprise.

"Excuse me?" Tony asked mouth open wide as he gawked in utter surprise.

Friday??? Was being. . .sassy???

"I'm sorry sir, was that too aggressive?"

"Hell yeah, it was aggressive!"

"Ah, I'm sorry. Peter was teaching me how to be, and I quote, 'spitting out so much slammin' bammin' sass and sarcasm that they wouldn't know what hit 'em.'" The Avengers' laughter momentarily interrupted her while Peter stared at the ceiling in horror and betrayal. "When Peter disappeared, I decided to continue on his teachings and conduct my own research. I hope I have satisfied you, Peter."

Peter's cheeks burned red as Tony gave the kid a glare with no real heat in it, while his teammates were giggling to themselves. "We'll talk later, Friday." He mumbled.

Thankfully, Clint saved Peter from further embarrassment by bursting into the room, waving something in his hands. "I GOT TICKETS!!"

Everyone stared at him as Natasha sighed. "Tickets to what, Clint?"

"To Disney!!"

Sam dropped his fork in shock as everyone stopped eating.

"Disney?" Steve blinked.

"Yeah! I borrowed Tony's debit card-"

"Excuse me?"

"-and bought us the best tickets to Disneyland! I also booked us rooms at a hotel! Check-in is the 22nd, this Thursday!"

"In two days?" Cried Pepper.

". . .did you happen to buy the Cinderella castle suite?" Sam asked.

Clint's eyes lit up, and he went to leave the room, but Wanda quickly used her magic to stop him, wispy scarlet gently wrapping around his wrist.

"Why do you want the Cinderella suite?" Bucky turned to his. . .friend(?)

"I don't know, I just relate to Cinderella a lot." Sam glared at the crippled old man, daring him to say something. Bucky shrugged.

"Aladdin is better." He muttered. Sam's ears turned red as he opened his mouth to say something, but Tony cut him off.

"Okay wait wait wait - you stole my card, bought Disneyworld tickets, and planned for us to leave the day after tomorrow?!"

"Um, no. I stole your card to buy tickets for Disneyland."

"What is this World of Disney?" Thor asked. "I thought you mortals have yet to discover ways to travel to other lands and worlds?"

"It's not an actual world," Vision softly corrected, the table in front of him empty, as he had no need to eat but a desire to be with his family. "It's a theme park built in 1955 by the imaginative Walt Disney. . ."

As Vision and co. droned on, Peter was just sitting there, silently watching everyone argue, leaving his plate of spaghetti to go cold. He accidentally caught Natasha's eye, and she gave him a stern, questioning glance at his untouched food. He sheepishly picked up his fork, and feeling Nat's eyes still on him, he gave his food a stir.

He's just not hungry.

"I think this trip is a good idea." Bruce finally added his two cents. "We all went through some. . .stressful times, and I think the 'happiest place on Earth' is a great idea."

"Sure," Tony grumbled, bitter that Clint stole his money (and the possible chance to help make everyone happy). "Nothing's more relaxing and enjoyable than large crowds, the hot sun, over-priced everything, long wait times, and sore feet!"

Pepper swatted his arm. "Stop complaining so much!"

"I wanna go to Disney." Peter piped up. Everyone froze.

"Disney's a swell idea." Said Steve, Bucky nodding.

"I want to meet Cinderella!"

"I too would like to venture to this World of Disney!"

"Land-!"

"Disneyland sounds fun." Wanda agreed (and of course, if Wanda wants to go, then so does Vision).

Eventually, pretty much everyone said they loved the idea of Disney. Peter smiled to himself as Tony rolled his eyes.

"I guess we're going to Disney."

~~~~~~
"Good morning America! I'm Isabelle Crossing, here live at the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland! We received news that the Avengers bought tickets, and will be arriving any moment!" A bubbly news anchor with blonde hair was informing America of the exciting news of the Avengers' vacation.
"The Avengers? Are you sure, Isabelle?" Her coworker asked, eyes wide with shock.
"I sure am, Tom! Fans have been lining up at the front gates, but instead of tickets, they are waiting for everyone's beloved superheroes, and- wait, oh my gosh, there they are!"
~~~~~~

"Why is it so hot," Bucky complained, tugging at his hat. Tony rolled his eyes.

"You're the one who decided to wear a sweatshirt and jeans, of course, you're going to be hot." He adjusted his classic sunglasses, staring at the crowds and reporters in disgust and ignoring Bucky's quiet grumbles about his arm.

"This is not. . .what I was expecting. . ." Thor frowned, perplexed.

"We already explained, Thor, it's not an actual world," Rhodey explained yet again. "Disney is this huge movie company that decided to build a theme park based off of their movies."

"Disney owns everything!" Clint started counting them on his fingers. "Disney (of course), Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic. . .uh, wasn't there one more?"

Everyone stood there for a moment, wondering what the last franchise was until Clint shrugged. "It doesn't matter, the point is Disney has everything!"

"Stark Industries even has a contract with Disney to produce merch." Pepper smiled. "There are even Avengers characters at Disneyland, maybe we'll run into one."

"Do they have Spider-Man?!" Peter asked, stars in his eyes. Everyone avoided eye contact with him, sending pleading looks to Tony.

"Ah, um, you see kid, y-you're an unofficial official Avenger. . .so Disney can't. . .do that." He awkwardly patted his back. The kid visibly deflated.

"Don't worry Peter," said Steve. "You'll get a character one day."

"Heh, it doesn't matter." He smiled. "Now, can we actually go inside the park and ride rides, or. . .?"

~~~~~~
Natasha insisted they started at her favorite ride: the Buzz Lightyear one. The riders were seated in a small, two-person carriage with fake, giant laser guns. The point of the ride was to shoot fake targets and try to gain the most points.
The competition was tight, but of course, Natasha won, Bucky right behind her, then Clint, and so on.
Buzz Lightyear was located in Tomorrowland, so they rode all the rides in that area (including the ones for little children. . .Clint. Clint. Astro Orbiters isn't that amazing, it just goes in a circle and please we already rode it five times, the seven-year-olds are staring-). Space Mountain, a lovely classic, was fun, and everyone agreed was worth the wait.
"Fantasyland, please!" Sam begged. "Cinderella is supposed to show up in five minutes!!"
Bucky sniffed. "Aladdin though. . ."
"Jasmine is also there."
Bucky stared at him for a moment, before picking up Peter and throwing him over his shoulder, ignoring the boy's squeak and causing the crowd to gawk. "C'mon, let's go."
Tony groaned as everyone rolled their eyes, following them to Fantasyland.
The actress for Jasmine couldn't close her mouth at the arrival of the Avengers (with a- a kidnapped child?) while Cinderella, who had more experience (ones that were weirder than this), happily waved and took pictures with Sam. Steve and Natasha snagged a picture with Belle before the group left as quickly as they came (much to Sam's disappointment).
Rhodey barely managed to convince Clint that they didn't need to ride ALL of the little rides scattered around Fantasyland, but the group did go on Dumbo (you're not a true Disney fan if you don't ride Dumbo) and were now waiting in line to go on the teacups ride.
"Ok team." Steve stood in front of the group listening to his instructions as if they were planning to go on a mission. "Three to four people can go in a cup, and there are. . .one, two, three. . .five, eight. . .twelve, thirteen of us, great. . .Split into groups, everyone."
Somehow, it ended up being:
Group 1: Tony, Pepper, Rhodey.
Group 2: Steve and Natasha
Group 3: Wanda and Vision
Group 4: Bruce and Thor
Group 5: Sam, Bucky, Clint, Peter
Peter's group got into the cup, a little squished but overall okay. As soon as they all sat down, the ride slowly started, the loud music began to play. Clint leaned forward, a devious grin on his face as he grabbed the wheel that controls the cup's speed. "We're going fast," was all he said.
~~~~~~

Tony, Pepper, and Rhodey were having a pleasant conversation, enjoying their break from walking in the sun. Wanda was snuggled up against Vision while Steve snorted at a joke Nat made. Bruce smiled at the little children while Thor fiddled with the wheel, confused at what it does.

Everything was pleasant and fun.

Suddenly, Sam, Bucky, Clint, and Peter flew by screaming, Sam hugging Bucky, Bucky holding onto a crying Peter who was at a high risk of flying out as Clint cackled maniacally before the wheel.

~~~~~~
"We're done with Fantasyland." Sam looked a little green and worn out.
"It's lunchtime, how about we find a good place to eat and then resume our rides?" Steve suggested. Bucky looked like he was ready to hurl at the word "lunch."
"Can we have a few minutes?" Peter weakly asked, sitting on the ground.
~~~~~~

"It's a small world after all! It's a small world after all!"

The Avengers were frozen in fear as their boat glided through the adorable It's A Small World ride. Clint leaned over to Sam. "Why are there so many creepy children puppets?"

Sam nodded but then shrugged. "You do gotta admire the diversity, though."

"Oh for sure."

"Wanda, love. . ." Wanda turned to Vision as he spoke. "I'm afraid I do not like these animatronic children. . ."

Bruce looked a little green while Steve was restraining Bucky. "I can't stand it anymore! Let me at them!" The metal-armed man cried.

Natasha grimaced. "This song is gonna be stuck in my head for the rest of the day."

~~~~~~
"Ugh, my feet are KILLING me." Sam groaned, collapsing onto one of the hotel beds. They were split up into multiple rooms, but all hung out in the same room together.
Clint jumped in next to him, turning on the TV. He scrunched up his nose as he flipped through the channels. "There's nothing food on, just Elmo and the news."
Clint stopped on a random news station as he noticed they were discussing the Avengers and tossed the remote who knows where.
"As the entire world now knows, the Avengers have made a surprise visit to Disneyland. What's even more surprising, however, is the fact they left after the mysterious murder of billionaire and single father Norman Osborn, and the disappearance of Dr. Curtis Connors." The news reporter said. Peter's fists slowly turned white from being clenched so tightly.
"Turn it off!" Steve hissed as the Avengers looked at each other and at Peter in alarm.
Don't look at the corner. Peter warned himself, shadows moving in the corner of his eye. It's not real, Osborn is DEAD-
"Should they really be out partying in California? I mean, c'mon, isn't it rather disrespectful to celebrate as the world mourns the loss of such amazing men?"
"How did the news find out? Osborn, Connors, everything was supposed to be strictly confidential!" Tony barked, grabbing his phone. He shot Peter one last, worried glance before exiting the hotel room to make some important calls.
"Some say Tony Stark played a part in this to eliminate competition for-"
Clint finally found the remote and hastily turned it off. Nervous glances were sent Peter's way, but he ignored them, letting out a shaky breath. He looked up with a wry smile and said, "I'm. . .gonna go on a walk. I'll be back."
"Are you- are you sure?" Bruce asked.
He nodded, grabbing a room key and already twisting the doorknob open. "Yeah, um, I just need some fresh air, and uh, I saw a vending machine earlier, so I'll grab a snack, too." Peter was out the door before anyone could say anything.
For what it's worth, Peter really did need fresh air, and he did see a vending machine, so he decided to go grab a snack. After grabbing a candy bar and a soda, Peter walked around the halls, until he made it to the outdoor pool. He went to sit down on one of the many chairs until he saw Tony sitting in one. He briefly considered going somewhere else, but Mr. Stark looked up before he could make up his mind
Tony gestured to the chair next to him, and Peter silently sat down in it. They both stared down at the water for a few moments.
". . .do you wanna go home?" Tony's voice was so low and soft, it was almost a whisper. Peter wasn't sure if he was asking if he wanted to return to New York or if he wanted to return to his and Ben's apartment.
Peter shook his head 'no.'
"Do you want to go back to the room?"
Again, Peter shook his head.
They relapsed into their silence until, "Do you want a hug?"
Peter nodded his head, blinking back tears. They both stood up, collapsing into each other's arms.
~~~~~~

"Disneyland Day Two!!" Clint cheered as they entered the park.

"They're having a Meet-The-Avengers event at two, so we only have a couple of hours to ride rides." Pepper graciously reminded them.

"C-3PO?" A little boy wearing a Star Wars t-shirt and R2D2 Mickey Mouse ears saddled up to Vision. The robot (? Android?? Synthezoid?) stared down at him for a moment as Sam and the others laughed in the background. "C-3PO!"

"Oh no," Vision corrected the child. "I'm not C3PO, I'm Vision."

"3PO!" The kid was adamant, reaching his arms out as if asking to be picked up. A woman quickly snatched him up, her cheeks red.

"I'm so sorry!" She apologized. "I don't know how he got away." The pair disappeared in the crowds as Vision gave a little wave.

"We need to hurry over to Adventureland if we're gonna beat the lines at Indiana Jones!" Bruce reminded the group, and they quickly hurried over.

Unfortunately, they were too late, and even their fast passes did little to shorten the wait time.

"I'm BORED!" Clint whined.

"Can we play I Spy?!" Peter asked. "I'll go first. . .I spy with my little eye, something. . .brown."

Clint blinked and gestured towards some trees. "Is it that tree?"

"No."

"That tree?"

"Nope."

"That one-"

"No."

"Is it your hair?" Steve asked.

"Is it me?" Sam suggested.

Soon, everyone was going around in a circle, taking turns guessing what Peter had spied. They got to the front of the line, and it was Tony's third turn to guess. "Alright kid," he said. "We give up, what is it?"

Peter blushed a little and ducked his head. "Um. . .I'll tell you after the ride."

Tony didn't have the chance to argue as they were rushed into their seats by gawking Disney staff. They enjoyed the thrilling ride, screaming and laughing. It was over much quicker than the wait time, and Tony was bugging Peter again.

"Um, well, it's actually. . .your eyes, Mr. Stark."

~~~~~~
"Pirates of the Caribbean might just be my favorite ride so far," Steve said as they got off the latest ride. Pepper looked down at her watched and let out a screech.
"We have to hurry!! The Avengers event is about to start!"
The main six Avengers (the only Avengers for today's events) each got a special entrance, walking onto a stage above the crowd. The real Avengers gathered fairly close to it, given VIP access.
"Captain America" graciously waved at the crowds as he marched forward. "Hello, civilians. Eat your broccoli, kids. Follow the rules. Don't do drugs."
Natasha nudged Steve with a smirk. "Wow, the actor's pretty spot on."
"What?!" He gawked at her. "No, he's not!"
"Black Widow" came out next, doing different exaggerated poses. She sent a wink down at the group, specifically Steve. "Hey there, sailor." She winked again, doing more poses.
"I do not pose like that." Natasha frowned while Sam snickered.
"I don't know Nat, you do like to pose."
"At least I get an actor."
Clint laughed at Sam's hurt expression.
The original six finished entering when dramatic music played and green smoke trailed across the stage. A horned figure strutted across the stage as the crowd went wild. He raised his arms up, a proud smirk on his face. The man triumphantly yelled, "YOUR SAVIOR IS HERE."
"LOKI?!" Thor bellowed, Bruce barely holding him back.
"It's not Loki, Thor, it's just an actor- wait a minute." Tony stopped talking, staring closer at the Loki in question. "That IS the real Loki, what the h-!?"
Loki turned pale once he noticed the angry Avengers staring at him, and sent Thor a sheepish smile. "Ah, my real brother and his petty friends are here!" He gestured to the real superhero.
People turned towards them, finally noticing they could've been talking to the real Avengers rather than fake ones the entire time. The crowds swarmed them, crying and begging for pictures and autographs. In the chaos, Loki made a silent and sneaky exit. The fake Avengers stood on the stage awkwardly, unsure what to do.
". . .do you think I'll get fired if I ask for an autograph?" Fake Clint asked as Fake Nat facepalmed.
~~~~~~

The rest of the Avengers' day was more or less uneventful (well, aside from Peter almost falling out of the Jungle Cruise boat, but that's a story for another time).

Unfortunately, their short trip to Disney had come to an end.

"Finally, home sweet home." Sam collapsed into one of the sofas in the common room. Everyone dropped their suitcases and bags and joined him.

"Man, I am worn. Out." Clint sighed, doing some quick stretches to help his old back.

"It was your idea," Bucky grumbled, earning some hums and nods of agreement.

"It was a good idea, though!" Peter supplied. Tony turned to him.

"Did you have a good time?" He asked, trying to act casual, but it was clear he was very invested in the kid's answer. "Did you have fun?"

"Mhm!" Peter beamed. "Of course! I just hope next time we go, Spidey will be the newest Avenger there!"

Pepper immediately got up. "I can't take it anymore, I have to go call an emergency meeting with Disney."

"Wait, why?" Peter asked. Everyone gave him a look.

"So she can add Spider-Man to Disneyland, kid." Natasha deadpanned. Peter sat there for a moment, dumbfounded, until he broke into a smile.

"Really?! I'm gonna be at Disney?!" He launched himself off of the couch, dancing around, until he stopped, horror taking over his face. "Does that mean Ms. Potts is gonna have to pay Disney a lot of money? I have to stop her!"

Red tendrils wrapped around Peter, preventing him from leaving. "Sit down, Peter." Wanda yawned, snuggling into Vision's shoulder more (are robot, AI-with-a-body, thingies comfy to lean on??)

"I'm gonna go take a shower and then sleep for the rest of the day," Sam said, stretching a little as he stood up. "Timezones suck. Goodnight everyone."

Tired good nights went around the room (as Vision pointed out that it was only four in the afternoon), and a few people followed. Peter decided a nap was a good idea and joined them. "Goodnight guys!" He smiled as everyone either told him goodnight, hugged him, ruffled his hair, or gave him a sleepy wave.

~~~~~~
"You wouldn't do that Peter," said Norman Osborn. "I know you."
No, you don't.
"No, you don't."
And then-
And then-
Snap-
Peter sat up with a gasp, his heart pounding. He just had a nightmare, but the dream was already slipping from his mind before he could focus on what scared him.
It was dark outside, and Peter's clock said it was a little past midnight. Despite the time, Peter was very much awake (yay messed up sleep schedules!!) He let out a sigh and climbed out of bed, his eyes landing on his still packed suitcase. With some grumbling, Peter placed it on his bed and started emptying it out. He was sorting his clothes when one of his shirts fell to the ground.
Just as he bent down to pick it up, Peter heard a woman's voice say, "Oops, dropped one."
It was light and airy, happy and carefree. She sounded like she was ready to laugh, she sounded like-
". . .Aunt May?"
Notes:
~~~~~~

Not too bad, I hope.

Sorry for the long wait :/

Also, I apologize to those not familiar with Disney and their rides. Feel free to ask for clarification, or do your own research, or use your own imagination!

Love y'all xoxo
