Chapter 1: All Men are Truly Not Created Equal

Notes:

~~~ means POV change
Chapter Text
Sakura had just turned four, and her mama and papa were so excited for her to get her quirk! Mama had a quirk that allowed plants to grow fast, and they got so big and strong! Her papa’s quirk is really sciency, and he could make cells speed up and go fast. It confused her, but they said she would understand when she was older.
It was a cold October day when she started to feel kind of warm, and in turn, her body really didn’t feel good. She wanted mommy, so she’s going to find her!
Despite feeling yucky, she had so much energy!
So, she skipped down the hallway to her mother’s office and knocked like how she was taught. She heard a quiet “come in” from the room, and so she twisted the handle, which was kind of hard, but she was big now, meaning it wasn’t too difficult and made her way to her mother.
Though as she was halfway there, she began feeling weirder. Her skin was feeling scratchy, no, itchy was the word mommy and papa used, and the room around her was spinning like it does when she twirls around really really fast.
“Sweety are you ok?” Her mother called out, though it echoed in her small ears as she tried to understand.
“Mommy, I feel really bad right now.”
Although the room was spinning fast now, she saw her mommy get up and make her way over to her.
“Baby, where does it hurt?”
“It kind of hurts all over, and I feel very spinny, and it’s really warm.”
“Ok baby, let’s lay you down on the couch. I’m going to go get a cool cloth to put on your forehead, ok sweety?”
“Ok mommy”
Her mommy left, and Sakura began to feel really hot now! She wanted to cry, but she wanted to be really strong, like All Might! She was sleepy, so she decided she might just close her eyes real quick.
~~~

As their daughter lay sleeping, her quirk manifested, and with a bright flash of light, a bundle of cloth with a cooing baby appeared on the couch right next to their pup.

Eyes flashing with an orange edge, the alpha father charged at the unknown intruder of their home, ready to tear it apart at the possibility of it harming his family.

"Tadashi! Stop! It's just a little pup! Do not harm him!"

The woman picked up the child shielding him from her mate, shushing the pup to sleep. The man eventually came down from his almost feral state, but the scent his omega let out made his mouth downturn.

It was one that smelled of milk and acceptance of that thing.

“We can’t keep it,” he growled out, the sound on the edge of too harsh, earning him a glare from his mate.

“It's a him, not an it, and what are we going to do with him! He just came out of our baby! He’s just a baby himself! He needs a home!" the woman argued.

“He’s not a baby, he is a quirk! We can just give him away. He is not our problem!”

“And what are we supposed to say when we drop him off? ‘Oh, this pup is just a result of a quirk. He’s not ours, you guys can have him.’ Oh yes,  husband,  that sounds like an amazing idea! It also sounds like a way for Sakura to be taken away!”

“Sakura won’t be taken away, dear. All I’m saying is that baby is not a true child. It’s a quirk, and I don’t want him in my household, so either he goes, or I go, and I’ll take Sakura with me.”

An angered whine made its way out of the woman's mouth, but she conceded.

“Fine, but we are doing it right. We are naming him before giving him up because despite what you say, he is a child, a little boy, and he deserves a chance at life.”

“Fine.” The man answered emotionless, his anger draining as he walked away from his mate.

The woman cooed down at the little pup, releasing a comforting scent for the child.

Even if she doesn’t get to keep him, she can at least grant him comfort for a little while.

Speaking in a low, quiet voice, she apologized, “I’m sorry about him dear, and I’m sorry you can’t stay. At least I can name you, hm, how about Izuku?” the sleeping newborn didn’t reply, but the woman didn’t expect him to, so she continued.

“Yes, Izuku, it's a good name for a baby boy though I should probably give you a last name as well," she somberly gazed upon the child before a name instantaneously came to mind.

“Midoriya, Izuku Midoriya. It fits you. You're very green”

And green the child was as his hair was a bright teal color and for being a newborn, was very fluffy. Whenever he periodically opened his eyes, a lovely green was found with specks of seafoam littering his irises. He was an adorable child, and she was convinced that others would be overjoyed to have him.

Looking back on her choices, she wished that she fought her husband a little harder and for a little longer.

But it didn’t matter as deep down she knew the boy was destined for something greater.

Izuku Midoriya was not born into the world like a typical child. He resulted from a young girl’s quirk manifestation, a mistake.

Having read his birth certificate and all the paperwork with it, he knows this to be the truth.

 The young girl's quirk allows her to create a child from the last two people she touches. He, however, didn't manifest like that.

No, that would make him lucky.

Someone would have actually wanted him.

Instead, he was a freak of nature, an anomaly.

Biologically, he had no parents, no genetic relation to anyone in the world.

He. Was. A. Mistake and those at the orphanage and his school will never let him forget that. It doesn’t help that he is quirkless, or a null as those at school like to call him.

He’s different, and people don’t like that.

His only saving grace was that he hadn’t presented yet, though that would be the final nail in his coffin.

Omega, he was an omega.

Of all the secondary genders, he had to be an omega. Of course, he had no problems with omegas, but society did, though it wasn't as bad as in years past.

But with being a male omega, he would get the brunt of it, as male omegas and female alphas were considered ‘abnormal’ and against nature.

Which made no sense, but when has society ever run on logic?

But regardless, he would be at the bottom of the food chain.

Because in this society, alphas are on the top, followed by betas, and then at the bottom, omegas.

That isn't to say that omegas didn’t have opportunities. Omegas were allowed in the workplace and almost every profession. They were even allowed to become heroes!

But Izuku was a quirkless male omega with no family, no backing, so his life was going to become a living hell. No one wanted to adopt him, and because of his secondary, even more so than his quirklessness, no one ever would.

But at least he could work towards his dream, even if it’s out of reach.

His first heat, a pre-heat, at ten was horrible.

Though he lived in a Beta and Omega only orphanage, he was not allowed to stay in his bed during his heat. He was forced to go into the room without any of his belongings. Denied even his blankets, he couldn’t even make a nest! He had no scent to comfort him, no parent to soothe him, he had nothing, and he felt so alone.

At eleven years of age, a new and kind omegan directress allowed him to take some of his blankets into the heat room. Her name was Inko Yagi, and she was a plump woman. Her hair was similar to his own in color, though it was pin-straight, and was often seen in a half-bun. She regularly sported the same peach cardigan and black skirt whenever she came into work, and although she wore scent blockers, he could faintly smell eucalyptus mingled with a stronger lavender scent on her.

Unlike the others who hated him, she seemed to like him and even went as far as to offer him a scented blanket for his heat. She said she did the same for her omegan son Mikumo, so he accepted, thankful for the nice scent. She also lightly scented him with the glands on her wrist, letting the faint smell linger on him. She didn’t mark him as her own, but she did enough that insinuated he had someone watching out for him.

Because of this new development, this heat and every heat since has been better. The ache for a nest ceased, and the addition of lavender helped quell his isolation.

At twelve years old, Izuku decided he had to work his body to its limit.

 If he wanted to be a hero, he couldn’t be without muscle, so his body needed to change.

He knew he was going to be at a disadvantage, and he needed to even the odds. He didn’t have a quirk to protect him, and his omegan stature left him shorter and more bottom-heavy than his alpha or beta peers.

But, thinking on it more, he decided that being an omega actually gave him quite an advantage. He was short, meaning he could duck and evade more efficiently than others, and if he trained and learned various kicks, his lower body could become a powerhouse.

So he started cleaning the trash-ridden beaches of Dagobah, hauling the trash to the nearby dumpster. It was hard at first, but as time passed and muscle grew, it got remarkably easier.

He recycled things that could be recycled, earning him money that he used to buy books to self-study for his middle school exams.

After one too many incidents that involved him - none of which were his own fault- he wasn’t allowed to go to school anymore, and the orphanage refused to enroll him.

So he homeschooled himself, and he studied hard.

He planned to take each grade test to show that he completed middle school.

Because, of course, you need proof of graduation to apply for high school.

He was overjoyed when he found out they often held them at various testing centers around Japan for those who were homeschooled, meaning he didn’t have to take a step into a middle school ever again. And luckily for him, they only required proof of residence in the prefecture and an ID, no parental or guardian signatures at all.

His studying also contributed to the money problem.

With being in an orphanage and his existence being the bane of most of the directresses' lives, no one would be willing to dish out the yen for his education. So, he was aiming for a scholarship, something that was already going to be difficult with his status.

But despite those difficulties, they never deterred him from moving forward.

He’s going to be a hero, and nothing will stop him.
