Work Text:
Prapai is at a loss, he’s tried the usual route, calls and texts, stopping by, nothing but radio silence. P’Joy does her best, in her own way, to try and soothe him, but it’s no use. He tosses the unused food, leaves the rest of the text and phone calls outside of work unread and unanswered. This isn’t like Sky at all, even in the beginning, when he pushes Prapai back, he’d never done this. Something is wrong and he has no idea how to fix it. Ever since the night of the party the air was thick with tension, then Sky dumps him. Saying he never cared, that it was all a game, then why does his voice shake? Why does he sound hurt instead of gleeful or at least void. Anything but the emptiness spilling out.
So he sits in the empty dorm, lost in his own thoughts when he spies a notebook. Prapai immediately reaches out to touch the cover, intrigued by its presence. He opens it to see Sky’s pretty handwriting and smiles sadly to himself, and begins to read. It’s about him, how he’s a big brother, likes to race and eats barbecue. How thick skinned he is, that gets a rueful laugh out of him. Then as he goes along his stomach sinks and his heart climbs into his throat. Sky’s self doubt staring him in the face. How he views himself as boring, unattractive, yet yearning for Prapai’s love and affection. Begging to be the only one to be seen and heard, for food and stolen glances. Not to become bored, to leave.
Prapai’s tears are falling fast, blurring his vision. He begins to sob softly, hurt and alone, wondering if that’s how Sky felt when he wrote these words. He’d give anything to stop the hurt, to make it better. But he doesn’t know how to reach out to him, when suddenly there’s a soft click. It’s Sky.
He sits silently on the couch, watching as the other man walks over to the desk searching for his journal. “Looking for this?” He asks and it startles Sky, whose eyes are big and pleading. Prapai begins to read out loud Sky’s innermost thoughts, watching as the other man breaks down. And he still pushes forward. “Let me say it, I love you Sky.”
“Please don’t leave, please!” Prapai holds him close, letting him cry brokenly in his arms.
“I’m not going anywhere,” he vows. And he means it.
