Exhaustion.
That was all Grian could feel pulling and tugging at his bones as he turned in his bed once again. He couldn't get to sleep, not with the sun shining in his face, seeping through the pillars he had installed in his base.
His communicator buzzed with multiple conversations being had across the server, they really abuse the general chat way too much. But hey, who was he to blame? It was a perfect day outside, a slight chill was carried with the wind in a whistle of a gust, and the sun shone perfectly
on all of their bases, decorating the server in quite the gorgeous color of gold.
One thing to know about Grian is that he likes red, a lot. But he also loves the color gold, something about it just brings warmth to his stomach, maybe it's how comforting the color is when the sun shines the exact color, or maybe it reminds him of something, something from his past that he can't quite remember.
He shakes his head a little as he finally notices he's zoning out. He's getting distracted, right, back to the plan. Get some sleep.
Alright he's gonna close his eyes now..
....
This is pointless! He groans as he kicks his feet under his blankets as his wings twitch and feathers rustle. He's never gonna be able to get to sleep.
Sighing and sitting up, he pulls his blankets with him, making a makeshift cape and hood with his two blankets, covering his head and standing up, effectively pulling the blankets to the floor, dragging them along as he walked towards his chests, maybe he could make some food or something warm to help him fall asleep.
Speaking of food, it sucked that everyone was so busy today, Pearl made good food and he missed their picnics together, where they would talk about anything and everything,
It's a shame his friends weren't here, he would be way less bored with some company.
As if his communicator heard his thoughts it buzzed with the familiar sound of a notification from his direct messages. He had it set so his communicator would give him some form of a different sound so he could differentiate the general chat notifications, and his direct whispers.
He can't help but whip his head up towards his communicator as if waiting for a certain someone to message him.
He scrambles towards his nightstand, tripping over his own feet, cursing a bunch of times as he fumbles with his communicator, flicking it on with a press of a button, ignoring the constant messages he's getting from the general chat they all use constantly.
GoodTimeWithScar whispered to you:
where ar yuo
you*
grain
grian*
helooo
grian!!!!1!1
Grian huffs a pathetic little thing of a laugh, being too tired to actually try and laugh.
Quickly, he used his fingers to type out his exact coordinates, he doesn't know why Scar didn't just come over to his base, as thats where he sits and stays usually. But, if the quiet sound of multiple rockets in his ears said anything, Scar was eager to see him nonetheless. Grian shared the same sentiment, he was feeling sappy and sweet right at the moment, and all he wanted to do was see Scar.
With a thud and a crash, Scar stumbled into the open door of his base, tripping over his feet, electing a cackle out of Grian.
"Grian! G!" He said once he finally comprehended that Grian was actually there. His arms spread out as he stumbled over to Grian, squeezing his waist tightly as he held Grian tightly to his chest, spinning him in a circle.
Grian had to ignore the butterflies fluttering in his stomach as Scar spun him. He reached up and looped his hands around Scar's neck as he squeaked.
" Scar! Put me down !" He squeaked as Scar laughed, finally putting him down after spinning him around for a good few seconds. His hands were still around his waist, and Grian's face was no doubt flushed a rosy red as he tried to pointedly ignore the feeling of his hands encapsulating his waist, the wings on his back, matching the ones on his head, puffed up as he tried desperately to press them back down telepathically
(He ignored the fact that would never work)
"Sorry, sorry. I just missed you so much!" He finally replied, squeezing him one more time before finally letting go.
"I missed you too.. I guess." He added that last part in a slight whisper, smiling as Scar's face turned to one of offense.
His eyebrows furrowed. "I guess?!"
Grian laughed, walking over to his bed while still giggling. He had no idea why Scar decided to show up, but it wasn't like he was complaining, if anything, he loved hanging out with Scar! He was one of his best friends in the entire world, but, he was curious as to why Scar decided to hang out with him, and why today.
So, he promptly decided to ask as much. "Scar? It's not like I don't love your company, but... why are you here?"
Scar sat beside him on his bed, they were each on one side of the bed, facing eachother. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion as Scar looked away with a slight blush dancing on his cheeks, biting on his lip.
"Thats uh- A loaded question, dove.." He was still looking away, and Grian had to pretend like that nickname didn't just make his brain and heart do backflips in his body so that he could question what he meant by 'It was a loaded question', usually that shouldn't be anything to worry about, right? So what was so different about today?
"I just wanted to hang out with my best pal is all! You know i've been really bored recently, what better way to combat that than hanging out with G-man!" He lied straight out of his teeth.
Tilting his head, Grian let out a questioning sound, picking up one of Scar's hands to intertwine their fingers. That got him looking at Grian again, a pretty pink painted across his cheeks as he squeezed Grian's hand with a comforting smile on his.
Scar always smiled, it was no surprise to anyone that he was always wearing a smile on his face, barely ever frowning or having some form of another expression painted on his face, but whenever he was with Grian, those smiles that are usually opening and friendly turned warm, kind, and comforting. He doesn't know why, but by god does he appreciate the warm smiles he always gets. It's sweet! Grian loves seeing Scar smile.
"It's uh- I wanted to talk to you about something, actually..? But it's kinda.. heavy." He replied to Grian's questioning hum, and Grian's eyebrows unfurled from where they were previously confused.
"Oh! Go for it then, I promise I won't mind whatever you talk about." Grian smiled a comforting smile back Scar. He probably needed it, especially if what he wanted to talk about was heavy.
"But thats the thing G! You might mind and I just- Promise you wont be mad or upset, or, or- Promise this won't ruin our friendship?"
After a beat, Scar added,
"Please..?"
Eyebrows furrowing once again, Grian hesitantly nodded, sticking out his pinky for Scar to interlock his own with.
"I pinky promise it won't ruin our friendship, there's basically nothing that could ruin our relationship anyway, you know?" He doesn't know why he phrased it that way, but it just felt like it fit.
Scar nodded, and unfurled their fingers that were clasped together to cup Grian's face, taking him by surprise as he looked at Scar with widened eyes, Scar's thumb rubbing against his cheek.
"I just-" Scar groaned, obviously frustrated with his words failing on him.
He took a deep breath, and forced himself to finally speak his mind.
"Everything you do is so perfect, and gosh, Grian I can't believe I'm about to say this but I think I'm in love with you! I'm just- Gosh! You are so perfect! I love you!" He said with vigor, watching as Grian's face to one of confusion and surprise to understanding and desire, and he just couldn't speak.
Oh.
Nothing Grian wanted to say would come out of his mouth, and he was left with his jaw slacked open, fingers grasping his bedsheets as he was stuck in a state of shock.
Noticing his silence, Scar got more and more anxious, hesitating to take him hands off of Grian's cheeks, yet two other hands stopped him, holding his hands there.
"Obviously if you don't uh- feel the same way there's nothing to worry about! I'll survive!" Scar lied out of his teeth once again, an anxious and nervous smile plastered on his face.
Grian felt as if the time was finally here to speak up, and he willed his vocal cords to finally work."
"..No-no. Scar I- I'm. I feel the same way. I feel the same way! I'm sorry for not answering, my vocal cords weren't working with me but I- Uh- I feel the same way, I really do." He finally, finally, replied.
"Really..?" A hesitant voice, almost a whisper with how quiet it was.
Grian nodded, a smile decorating his face, a rosy pinky blush scattered across his freckled filled cheeks.
Scar smiled, a wide, beaming thing. Without thinking, he pressed a quick kiss against Grian's lips, a small, hesitant thing, as if he was worried he would be too much, which Grian knows he could never be too much. The man he loves could never be too much to him, never.
As if recognizing what he truly did, he paused. "Wait is that- is that okay? Can I kiss you..?" He asked politely.
Grian nodded, giggling, he let go of Scar's hands and put his own hands on Scar's shoulders, pulling him closer.
"Of course you can, silly."
Beaming, Scar's smile got even wider, and Grian felt like the luckiest man alive right at that moment. Scar was utterly just the most beautiful man he had ever met, the scars decorating every inch of him helped his case as all Grian wanted to do was trace them with his fingers. The moles and beauty marks also decorating his entire being were just absolutely stunning, and all Grian could think was how lucky he was to call Scar his.
Tuning back to the moment at hand, a certain elf was pecking at his face multiple times, squishing his face in his hands and ignoring the giggling and slight protests from the shorter as he kissed all around his face, he also pointedly ignored his lips. His jawline, cheeks, nose, and forehead were attacked with love as Scar danced around his lips, leaving Grian chasing the feeling of his chapped lips against his own, growing more and more impatient by the moment.
Grabbing him by the shoulders, Grian pushed Scar back, out of breath from giggling about the feeling of Scar's lips against his face.
" If you don't kiss me in 5 seconds I swear to god I'll kiss you myself. " He said, panting.
Scar giggled, rubbing his thumb against his cheek. "Patience pretty bird! You don't wanna be too impatient now, do you? That isn't very nice."
He had the absolute nerve to make jokes after he just poured his heart out to him, the absolute nerve of this man! But my god, with every joke he made Grian felt himself becoming more in love with him than he already was, raising the urge to kiss him silly until they both were out of breath.
Leaning into the hand resting on his face, it moved to cup his jaw, squeezing the skin. Grian looked up into Scar's eyes, he was slightly bent over to reach his height, and he was inches away from his face, just staring at him with a warm, kind, smile on his face.
"Scar I-"
I love you, I love you, I love you.
Scar nodded at him, encouraging him to continue, tilting his head ever so slightly, looking like a curious puppy. And oh my god, when he was looking at him with those eyes, Grian couldn't help wanting to cry, how did he ever get so lucky? He was so lucky to have Scar, and he hopes that Scar feels lucky to have Grian, lucky to call him his, lucky to have him as his own.
Grian stared at Scar for a second, a good, long second. He was staring at his lips, the chapped lips that he found he always stared at whenever they hung out. He had scabs across his lips from biting and chewing on them in worry, a little anxious habit he's always had since Grian first knew him.
He just couldnt stop looking at his lips, no matter what Scar said, it fell on deaf ears, he was no doubt wondering why Grian had fallen silent, and the little calls and pokes he made went in one ear and out the other as Grian continued to stare.
If he was aware of it, he would've noticed how Scar kept looking at his lips too, entranced by how soft they looked, and how he wondered about the way they would feel against his.
He couldn't stop staring.
...
Fuck it, void give him strength.
He sighed fondly, reaching up with one his hands (which was previously resting on Scar's chest), he pulled Scar down by the collar of his shirt, tilted his head, and finally, finally kissed him on the lips, properly this time.
And oh.
Oh.
it was absolutely heavenly, his lips were chapped yet soft, like he applied chapstick yet it barely helped, a stark contrast to Grian's own soft and moisturized lips.
Scar was a good kisser, a very good one, and he was surprised to figure out that Grian was his first everything. First love, first kiss, first everything that mattered.
He had chased this feeling for so long, he distantly realized. He had wanted Scar the moment he called him Birdie for the first time. There was something so cute about the way Scar would call him cute nicknames, and everything about Scar was absolutely wonderful, and maybe its the exhaustion still lurking in his bones talking, but he wants this feeling forever and ever.
Feeling a tug at his hair, he let out a slight muffled gasp against Scar's lips, Scar's hand must've wound up in his hair while he was stuck in his head, and he felt a sly smile against his own while Scar tilted his head, deepening the kiss.
They both wanted eachother it seems, if the eagerness in both of their mouths spoke for them. Tears sprung to his closed eyes as he furrowed his brows, a little habit he had whenever kissing someone, his brows always furrowed out of his control, something he desperately needed to fix, as he thought it was a pretty weird habit.
His hands were around Scar's neck as he pushed into him more, a slight thump rang out as Scar's back met his headboard, and he tugged on his hair again, getting a chirp out of Grian, who flushed red at the silly sound he let out, however, Scar thought it was the most beautiful thing he's ever heard, if the way his smile softened from mischievous to fond spoke for him.
Running out of breath and squeezing his eyes closed tighter when Scar didn't let up, apparently not done devouring him, he pushed back on his shoulders, Scar finally letting up.
They disconnected with a pop , Grian panting, while Scar just breathed heavily, seemingly not phased by what they had just done, how much breath did this man have in his lungs?
Grian finally realized the position they were in, his legs were straddling Scar's hips, knees on either side of his thighs. One of Scar's hands was wrapped around his waist, squeezing tightly. The other rested in his hair, gripping just as tightly. Grian's hands, on the other hand, were perched on his shoulders, and he winced at the slight scratch marks he left on the back of Scar's neck, red and rosy.
Scar's face was painted a gorgeous pink, and Grian had no doubt he himself looked like a tomato. Scar was breathing heavily, shoulders rising and falling vigorously as his mouth was parted slightly, he was staring directly into Grian's eyes with a look of surprise and desire. Grian shared his look, he couldn't believe he just did that.
He just did that.
"That just happened." Scar let out with air in his voice, his voice a mere whisper, rather than the boisterous tone he always carried with him.
Grian groaned.
"I just kissed you rather silly like and you reply with 'That just happened' ?" He replied jokingly, an eyebrow raised.
Scar flushed an ever prettier red, "What else was I supposed to say..?"
Grian wound his arms around Scar's neck again, staring at him with a dopey like expression on his face, Scar was such a dork.
He leaned in again, stopping just as their lips were a whisper away from eachother. He paused for a moment, thinking something over, then he turned his head to lay a kiss on Scar's cheek with an obnoxious 'mwah' sound.
He felt the hand on his hair unleash its grip, pushing head into the junction between his neck and shoulder, and he felt lips press against the back of his head, the hand that was previously in his hair reaching down to grasp his waist, like the other one.
"Hi." Scar said breathily, as if in disbelief this was actually happening, disbelief that Grian actually loved him back.
"Hi." Grian replied just as out of breath. In a way, he couldn't believe this was happening at all either. A mantra of Scar loved him, Scar loves him replaying in his mind as he smiled into Scar's neck, pecking a chaste kiss into his neck, ignoring the sound he elected out of Scar.
He loves Scar, and Scar loves him back.
He's Scar's, and Scar is his.
That's all he can ask for.
