If someone had told Akito two months ago that he would be going down one of the world's scariest water slides with Tsukasa fucking Tenma on a random summer morning, he would have simply ignored it.
The idea seemed simply absurd to him, and no matter how many times he thought about it, he always came to the same conclusion.
That would be fucking impossible, and not even the greatest miracle seen on earth would be enough to make it happen.
"AKITO, IT'S ALMOST OUR TURN."
Unfortunately for Akito, Tsukasa's shout interrupted his thoughts.
"DON'T LET GO OF THE FLOAT, I KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT, BUT I DON'T WANT YOU TO FALL OFF." He was still talking too loudly for Akito's taste, and with a frown, he didn't answer him. "DON'T WORRY, IT'S MY DUTY AS A STAR TO KEEP YOU FROM GETTING HURT."
"Please don't shout anymore, people are staring at us too much." Before the older boy was able to finish his speech, Akito interrupted him with a mixture of annoyance and embarrassment.
"OH SORR-" And seeing how Akito was giving him a dirty look, he didn't finish the apology by shouting: deciding to speak again, but in a lower tone. ‘Sorry.’ He didn't shout, yet that didn't mean he lost his enthusiasm, for when he spoke he did so with a smirk on his face.
Somehow, Akito calmed down a little.
It had been an exhausting day, and he still couldn't understand how he had let himself be dragged on this trip with Toya's family.
It all started in an inadvertent way: with an innocent proposal from Toya to spend the weekend out of town. It was something Akito really wanted to do: to go on a trip for a few days and forget about the stress of school, even if it was just for the weekend.
That was why he didn't hesitate to accept the proposal without deigning to ask for details at any time; excited by the simple idea of being with Toya.
That week, he recalls spending the days nodding to everything Toya said, and preparing himself according to the older's instructions. By Friday afternoon, his backpack was already packed on his bed; filled to the brim with his towel, swimming trunks, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen to avoid getting sunburnt.
He didn't ask where they were going, but assumed they were going to a water park.
And he wasn't wrong, but what he forgot to take into account was to ask if there would be other people besides just the two of them.
You can imagine Akito's surprise when he arrived at Toya's house early Saturday morning, excited and looking forward to spending time with his boyfriend, only to find Tsukasa fucking Tenma waiting next to the taller one, dressed in a blouse printed with ridiculous flowers all over it, and wearing what appeared to be sunglasses too big for his face; ready to leave with them.
“Hello, Aki.” Toya greeted him with a soft smile, too busy stashing his own backpack in the boot of the car they were about to use: oblivious to the situation behind him.
The situation could have been considered comical, really, if it wasn't for the presence of more people appearing out of nowhere.
“Hi! You must be Toya's boyfriend.” A girl's voice caught Akito's attention, who, as he turned his head to look at who appeared to be Tsukasa's sister, caught a glimpse of a purple spot out of the corner of his eye, causing him to freeze in place.
He didn't even have time to process anything, when a short, grey haired girl approached with yet another bag to help Toya.
“Hi, I'm Shiho, Saki's friend.” The girl introduced herself without much trouble, causing Akito to nod, still too confused.
Standing still, not knowing what to do or what to think, someone's voice interrupted Akito's thoughts again.
“Fufu~” The voice of a certain person behind him made a chill run down Akito's back. “Look who we have here, if it isn't Shinonome-kun!” Without any need to turn around, Akito recognized that voice instantly.
“Kamishiro too-?” He muttered as his eyes glittered with what seemed to be a hint of fear reflected in them.
“Exactly, what a thrill to be able to share this journey with you!” He replied as he walked past him to head over to Tsukasa and give him a kiss on the forehead in front of Akito.
Seeing the two of them in front of him, two different thoughts went through Akito's head:
1. Ugh, gay people.
2- Of course they have matching fucking silly t-shirts.
“Rui!” Tsukasa exclaimed with joy. “You've arrived just in time! We're going to have a great time Akito, don't worry, trust us.”
The sight of the two boys holding hands, wearing matching shirts and with too much energy for 7 o'clock in the morning, gave Akito a sense of fear that he could not remember feeling for a long time.
It had all been a misunderstanding, and unfortunately it had been nobody's fault but his, because if he had just dared to ask Toya something, he could have avoided all that.
What he didn't understand was how he had ended up trapped between the two maniacs in the car seats.
Seriously, with Tsukasa on his right side, and Rui on his left, Akito debated whether jumping into the road with the car in motion was enough to make it all go away.
He couldn't help but feel betrayed too, as Toya, even knowing his dislike for the two elders, didn't hesitate for a second to leave him to his fate to sit with the two girls in the front seats, trying to hide an amused smile with his hand at the image of Akito sitting between his brother and Rui.
Akito felt like he was about to explode, but after four long hours of enduring the two elders, they arrived at their destination.
As Akito got out of the car, he felt like kissing the ground from how grateful he was to have finished the journey.
Unfortunately, his peace of mind was short-lived, as no sooner had he stepped through the doors and changed into his swimming costume that Tsukasa grabbed him by the arm.
“LET'S TRY THAT SLIDE” Tsukasa said as he pointed his hand towards a slide with enough loops to make Akito dizzy just by looking at it.
The blond was dragging him by the arm as the others walked quietly behind them.
“BUT YOU'RE WATCHING THAT?” Akito could only fear for his life, and trying to wiggle out of the older boy's grip, he shouted in protest. “I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW SUCH A SLIDE CAN EXIST, BUT I'M NOT GETTING ON IT.” He shouted, but the other ignored him.
“Don't worry, the others will wait for us in the pool across there.” Tsukasa seemed to ignore him, as he spoke with all the glee in the world, oblivious to the screams of the people as they went down the very slide he wanted to try.
Akito felt that he was not going to survive the day, and just by climbing the stairs to go down the slide, he felt himself turn pale as he looked down.
The queue was short, probably because of how imposing the ride looked, so they were both able to get to the top in only two minutes, which didn't help the panic Akito was going through.
“Tsukasa, buddy, I know we're not the best of friends and all, but I feel like we should talk this out-” Out of fear, Akito found himself trying to have his first civilized conversation with the older boy; trying to convince him not to lead him to his certain death.
“DON'T WORRY, I'LL RIDE WITH YOU, THERE'S NOTHING TO BE AFRAID OF.” And again, Tsukasa again ignored Akito's words.
Grabbing him by the arm, he dragged him to the start of the slide, and sitting Akito on the float, he smiled at him.
“We're going to have a great time, I promise.”
The float advanced bit by bit until it reached the first ramp down, and Akito, clinging to the float with his life, closed his eyes.
“Nonono-” He repeated steadily, wishing the float would suddenly stop. “NOO-” Which it didn't, for in the next two seconds, he found himself plummeting, gulping water from screaming, and unable to see anything because of the water.
“YOHOO” And unlike Akito, Tsukasa seemed to be living his best life.
The ride took forever for Akito, and as he reached the end of the slide, his float turned, causing him to fall face-first into the pool.
“THAT WAS GREAT, LET'S TRY IT AGAIN-” Tsukasa's screams were audible even under the water, and Akito couldn't help but still feel a tingling sensation running through his body from fear.
When he was able to sit up, he exchanged glances with Toya, who was watching the situation with amusement from the pool in front of him.
Akito felt like a wet cat, and the people around him might even say that he looked like one; not at all happy to be there, with his wet hair covering his face and his face red from the amount of water he had ingested in such a short time against his will.
Anyway, he didn't have time to react to Tsukasa's grip again, which caused him to be dragged again by the older man towards another attraction.
And unfortunately, the situation repeated itself until the end of the afternoon.
He didn't know how, but after countless hours of sliding down slides feeling his life in peril, he managed to get rid of the older one when he ended up drowning in a child's pool due to a prank by his boyfriend.
“I hate you” He said with his face against his towel, lying face down in an extremely non-aesthetic way, simply too tired to care.
Toya's giggle was the first thing he received in response to his words.
“It was no big deal.” He said with a mocking tone in his voice.
Hearing that, Akito had the decency to only turn his head to look at the older one; cheeks flattened against the towel, hair semi-wet and eyes tired.
"You say that because it wasn't you who had to risk your life on a few slides." He childishly countered, closing his eyes so he could relax.
And Toya laughed again.
“I know how it feels, who do you think Tsukasa dragged into those slides when we were kids?” Toya's question didn't need an answer, as he kept talking himself. “This year I just got lucky, and he chose you.”
Sitting up, he reached his hand towards Akito's head to stroke and comb the hair that fell over his forehead.
It was a short while before Akito reacted to Toya's words, too at ease with the caresses to mumble more than a “I hate you” before nearly melting on top of the towel.
Toya laughed again at his boyfriend's attitude, feeling a certain tenderness at his reactions as well.
At seven o'clock in the evening, they packed up, heading back to the car.
The sun had begun to set, and the orange hues in the sky accompanied them all the way back; providing a warm and peaceful atmosphere after so many hours of chaos and noise.
Tsukasa and Rui were watching a play together with Saki in the front seats, while Shiho was sitting in the passenger seat, watching the scenery go by, and Toya was listening to music with Akito, feeling the latter sleeping soundly on his shoulder.
The image of Akito sleeping peacefully with his hair slightly damp, dressed in Toya's shirt and wrapped in his own towel, was heart-warming, and Toya was unable to suppress the urge to want to kiss him.
So, giving him a kiss on the forehead and snuggling up to Akito, Toya smiled.
“I hope you had a good time.”
Unconsciously and still sleeping, Akito mumbled in his sleep, seeming to respond to his boyfriend before relaxing his expression into something resembling a quiet smile.
