A Fool of a Hero

Summary:

Midoriya Izuku always felt a little off in his skin. He would tell himself it was because of the constant bruises blooming across his skin. He once told this to Kachaan but he just waved it off.

Of course it wasn't just that. Sometimes when night comes he expects a green hue to take over the night. He expects slime like monsters to be wondering left and right.

At nights like those he feels the phantom weight of a sword in his hand. Waiting for the right moment to strike.

Chapter 1: A fool will always be a fool

Chapter Text

Midoriya Izuku always felt a little off in his skin. He would tell himself it was because of the constant bruises blooming across his skin. He once told this to Kachaan but he just waved it off.

Of course it wasn't just that. Sometimes when night comes he expects a green hue to take over the night. He expects slime like monsters to be wondering left and right.

At nights like those he feels the phantom weight of a sword in his hand. Waiting for the right moment to strike.

Of course he ignored it. He told himself it was just his imagination. Maybe he really was crazy.

The day it happened was as normal as any other. Kachaan had insulted him for the nth time that day. And as usual he wss limping back home.

His headache was getting worse with every step. Honestly? He should've known something was going to happen.
So that brings him to what's currently happening. And by that he means being trapped by a sludge monster in the middle of the street.

He struggled in the monsters grip. He faintly hears the yelling of the heroes. Each one of them making excuses on why they couldn't save him. How pathetic he thought.

Even if his team didn't have the shadow's weakness they still managed. Add that to the fact noone was professionally trained except Akihiko senpai then it makes them look even more pathetic.

He can think of a dozen ways to save him with the tools in their surroundings. Mitsuri senpai would be proud of him.

His hands stopped struggling. Shadows? What is that. Who is Mitsuri senpai? Who is Akihiko senpai?

In his mind he feels a light running away from him. He reached towards it before throwing his head back as memories overflowed.

A single word escape from his lip. If this sludge has the properties of water which he's pretty sure it has. Then.... it should be weak to fire.

"Orpheus. " the name fell from his mouth as his persona appeared with the sound of breaking glass.

"Agi." He commands. The persona attacks as a burst of fire hits the monster. Because of the pain from the attack the monster let go of him.

Orpheus catches him, maneuvering him to a safe place. The pro heroes are quick to disarm the villain. Then one of them approaches him. Orpheus is still carrying him.

He vaguely recognizes the pro hero as Kamui Woods before promptly passing out.

When he wakes up he smells the signature smell of a hospital.

He is told he was unconscious for three days. They say it was probably the shock from the attach that caused his quirk to awaken.

Well....they aren't wrong about the shock activating his 'quirk' in a sense.

His mother cried when the doctor told them the news. She wept as she realized his long time dream could finally be realized.

But does he really want to be a hero? This was a question that filled his head even when he came home.

"Izuku, a package is here for you!" His mother yelled and how weird it is to suddenly have a mother.

"I'm coming." He called back. He brought the package to his room before opening it up. Inside was an evoker. He held it with shaking arms as he pulled out the note.

Apparently his friends were told by the velvet room that he would be reborn sometime in the future.

So, they prepared this. A box filled with pictures and items of their days as students.

Ah....
He can't help but cry. So, that night he mourns the friends who cared for him. People who died centuries before.

When he came back to school he did everything in his power to ignore Bakugo. Toxic 'friendships' should be cut. He raised his hand whenever he knew an answer. He aced his exams and finally said goodbye to that disgusting place called a school.

Months pass and he was in front of UA. Participating their entrance exam as a hero hopeful.

The written test wasn't hard except maybe history. After he turned in his sheet they were given some time for a break before being led to a hall. Present Mic appeared as he explained the rules of the practical exam.

Robots. They were fighting robots in a fake city. He wonders if that money purely came from the school or from the government. He also wonders why the money wasn't used for something like charity instead.

When Present Mic finally yelled start, he bolted. "See that listener gets it. There's no count down in real life after all."

He pressed the evoker to his temple as the familiar pull of his persona came forth. With his roster of personas this exam was turning out to be quite easy.

Alice was overkill with her insta death attacks. He was pleasantly suprised when her insta death skills worked on the robots.

That day he came home smiling ear to ear. Afterall who wouldn't celebrate absolute victory?

"Did you find someone you're interested in?" Aizawa asked noticing his grin. At this every teacher in the monitor room turned their heads. A reasonable reaction he mused. Afterall the last time he was interested in someone, the number one hero was born.

Instead of answering Nedzu just smiled causing the teachers to shiver. Everything went back to normal before a shout was heard.

"Wait, is that kid pointing a gun to his head!?" Someone exclaimed. Aizawa clicked his tongue as he was getting ready to intervene.

"Wait. Let's stay calm." He said calmly. "I'm sure the student has a reason for that." Midoriya Izuku was it? He thought opening his file once again. "Memento Mori, huh?"
He said catching the attention of everyone in the room.

By then everybody was calming down as the boy summoned a figure to fight. "Is that the name of his quirk?" Kayama asked.

He nods before explaining. "Memento Mori uses the concept that everyone will die to summon creatures from myths long pass. One of the downsides is that the user needs to be stimulated by the feel of death first."

Aizawa sighed hearing the explanation. "You're going to put him in my class aren't you?"

He grined as he pass the file towards him.

"He was declared quirkless for most of his life so I'm sure he doesn't have the usual arrogance you're expecting. "

Aizawa simply hummed as he leafed through the boy's information.

"How many points does he have right now?"

"100 but if we count in the rescue points then..... well you get the idea."

Aizawa slouched into his chair. Mumbling about problem children.
