15 minutes (2 to make you finish)

Summary:

“Neither!” She exclaimed, then paused, swallowing thickly. “I just… I think I want to be the one in charge next time.”

Vi squinted. “Of what? The remote? The grocery list?”

“In bed.”

Vi’s eyes widened. “Oh.”

OR, caitlyn just really wants to top her girlfriend.

Chapter 1: i can do a lot with 15 minutes

Chapter Text

With one last low, breathy moan, Caitlyn came down from her high and curled against Vi, who slowly slid out of her, one finger still teasing her clit.

God, Vi was always such a damn tease.

Cait’s head lolled to the side, nestled in the crook between Vi’s chin and her shoulder, the little cradled dip between her collarbones. She inhaled deeply, inhaling the scent of her girlfriend, like cedarwood and leather, dark amber and bergamot.

“You good there?” Vi whispered, breath warm against her ear, the earlobe she had been nipping at a few minutes before.

Caitlyn managed to nod, her body still buzzing from the aftermath of her climax, her skin flushed and crawling with pulsing warmth. Heat.

She could already feel the dull bruises forming around her neck and breasts, marks sucked onto her skin by Vi’s skilled mouth.

  “Just tired,” Caitlyn managed, murmuring.

She could also already feel Vi smiling against her skin. She forced herself to find her words, the fire now burning lower in her belly. Only Vi had the power to reduce her to a whimpering mess.

“What are you so smug about now?” She rasped, voice low and husky.

She had been panting and gasping a minute ago. The only word she had known was Vi's name, the name she moaned over and over again as she finally came.

“Nothing,” Vi replied, breath still heavy. “Just four times? That’s gotta be some kind of record, Cait.”

Caitlyn instantly groaned, burying her face into the duvet. “Shut up.”

“You were the one practically dripping,” Vi purred practically right into her ear. “I hadn’t even touched you yet.”

  Cait curled her lip.

Vi’s hand was still on her thigh, a warm hand pressed against hot skin. She slid her palm further down, rubbing at the goosebumps there, skin soft and smelling of sugared vanilla lotion. “Were you waiting for me, Cait?”

Caitlyn bit her lip, choosing not to reply.

Vi’s hand slid back up. “Did you touch yourself?”

  Caitlyn held her breath.

Vi’s grip tightened. “Tell me,” she said, voice dangerously low. Caitlyn let out a muffled groan. “Did you lie here in our bed and touch yourself to the thought of me?”

  Our bed.

  Lord, Caitlyn nearly came again.

Instead, she curved forward and crashed against Vi, squishing their chests together, pressing her lips to Vi’s hot mouth. She swore she could taste her own pleasure against Vi’s lips from when Vi's face had been buried between her thighs, her knuckles pale white and gripping the sheets like a lifeline.

Vi was surprised at first, but fell into it. She moaned against Cait’s mouth, drawing her back in. Her hands slid up the small of her back, palms flat against bare, sticky skin, sweat-shined. Nails scraped lightly, digging into sensitive skin, and lightning shot straight up Caitlyn’s spine. She groaned, nearly grazing Vi’s lip with her bottom teeth.

The kiss was calmer than the ones before it, back when they had been throwing off clothes and falling into bed, but it was desperate. Thirsty. There was a certain fire to it, a kindled flame being tended to.

Vi only pulled away when Cait pressed a knee against her thighs, asking to be let in. A silent plea. A beg

A long strand of saliva still connected them as they pulled away, lips red and kiss-swollen. They sat there for a moment, sweaty foreheads pressed together, panting and chests heaving. Vi looked at her, then looked down at her knee, her own arms looped loosely around Cait’s waist.

  Caitlyn raised an eyebrow.

Vi raised one too. “What are you trying to do?”

She ran her own hand down Vi’s back, feeling the hard muscle and soft skin there. She pursed her lips. “Don’t you want me to…?”

Her hand came to rest on Vi’s knee, ghosting over the hard cartilage there. Her skin was still warm.

Vi raised an eyebrow, realizing her implication. “Oh.”

Caitlyn frowned. She couldn't tell if that was a surprised or disappointed oh.

Then Vi laughed. She shook her head, smiling like it was the funniest thing in the world. “No,” she said. Her hands came to rest on Caitlyn’s shoulders, holding her up. Cait slumped slightly against her. “I mean, look at you.” She looked down at Cait, at her flushed red and sweat-slick skin, practically glowing in the dim lamplight. “You’re shaking.”

Caitlyn clenched her thighs together, feeling them quiver ever so slightly. The skin there was still crawling with heat, covered in patches of goose flesh.

Vi only shook her head again. “I think I wore you out, Cait.”

“Vi,” Caitlyn said, feeling her face heat. “If you want—”

“Trust me,” Vi said, now smirking. “The sounds you make. God, that’s enough for me.” She leaned in and pressed a kiss above Cait’s left breast, just along her collarbone. A small drop of sweat had collected there, catching in the little dip of her chest. “Just the sight of you… you’re so beautiful.”

Caitlyn forced herself to swallow slowly.

“Please, Vi,” Caitlyn said, voice high and airy. Desperate. “Let me return the favor.”

“I don’t know, Cait,” Vi cut her off. “You don’t have to.”

“But I want to,” Caitlyn blurted.

Vi stared at her for a long moment. “Are you sure?”

  “Gods,” Caitlyn nearly moaned. “Yes.”

Vi blinked once, then twice. She looked down at them, at their naked bodies pressed together, and then around the room—the messy bed, clothes strewn around everywhere, all proof of their recent and rather passionate endeavor.

Caitlyn lived alone, so they naturally fluctuated more towards her apartment. They still hung out at Vi’s, but having Jinx or Ekko pound on the door to yell at them to keep it down really killed the mood. Here, it was quiet. Here, they could just be.

Slowly, but surely, Vi seemed to be spending more and more time here. Caitlyn was used to waking up next to her, warmth sticking to sunlit sheets and a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist.

They quickly fell into a routine. They made breakfast together, eating and cleaning up together. Then they showered together. Well, not all of the time in the shower was actually spent showering. Then Caitlyn would panic that they would be late because they decided to fuck in the shower and Vi would kiss her again and suddenly one minute turned into five. By the time they finally got out of the shower, their skin was flushed and wrinkled.

Then they wrapped themselves in plush white towels, the soft ones Vi loved, and dressed. They would dress and lather themselves in lotion. Caitlyn would always have to bite her lip and resist the urge to press herself against her girlfriend’s body again.

   Girlfriend.

Oh, how Caitlyn loved saying that word. Loved just simply thinking it.

Then they would crowd at the bathroom counter, shoulders bumping, and brush their teeth. Vi would grin and laugh at her as she went through her skincare routine.

“Eight products is a little excessive, Cait,” Vi would say, and Caitlyn would scoff.

Of course, Vi would say that. She used only water and a bar of soap, and somehow had the clearest skin in the whole world.

But, when no one was looking, Caitlyn would sneak glances at Vi through the mirror, softly smiling only to herself.

Now, Vi did something unexpected. She sighed and slumped forward, resting her forehead against Cait’s shoulder. “Maybe another time, ‘kay?” She said, voice muffled by Caitlyn’s skin.

Caitlyn’s lip flattened into a straight line. “Did I do something wrong?” She asked, confused. “I—”

Vi instantly sat up, fixing her with a hard look. “God, Cait, no,” she exclaimed. “You were great. You always are. You’re so pretty, and kind, and I’m so fucking lucky.”

Caitlyn hummed, still feeling winded. A pit was opening in her stomach.

Why wouldn’t Vi let her have this? Did she not want it? Not enjoy it?

“I just…” Vi trailed off. “I’m not in the mood.”

“That’s okay,” Caitlyn whispered. She pressed one last lingering kiss to Vi’s shoulder, making her smile softly but surely. “Maybe I tired you out, too, huh?”

  Vi nodded, grinning. “Definitely.”

Caitlyn tried to smile back. “Definitely,” she echoed.

Then, Vi kissed her again, slowly lowering her back onto the pillows behind her. Caitlyn kept her eyes open, watching her. Studying her.

Her blue-gray eyes twinkled, crinkling in the corners. She broke the kiss with a small inhale, patting Cait on the knee and withdrawing. “Rest up,” she said, then turned.

Caitlyn lifted her head as Vi got up and went to pull open a dresser drawer, picking out a random t-shirt and pulling it over her head. Caitlyn rolled over, facing her. She tilted her head from the bed, watching and admiring the way Vi’s back muscles moved in the low lamplight, shoulder blades rippling. She mourned the sight of ink-traced skin and settled back onto the pillow with a small sigh.

It started about a month ago. Caitlyn had cleared out the bottom drawer so Vi could have her own space. Now extra boxers, t-shirts, and a random sports bra or two was crammed into the drawer, waiting for when Vi came over. There were other signs too, little scattered pieces of Vi slowly sneaking their way into the apartment.

They sprouted almost like weeds, growing quite quickly and unexpectedly, but Caitlyn didn’t mind it.

In fact, it was the most beautiful weed she had ever seen.

Clothes shoved in a drawer. An extra toothbrush in the bathroom. Her favorite red jacket left slung over Caitlyn’s desk chair. Protein powder on the kitchen counter. A random pair of boxing gloves hanging on the coat rack in the foyer. Little bits and pieces everywhere, left for Caitlyn to find.

At some point, Caitlyn didn’t know where she ended and Vi began.

That fact might have once scared her, but it no longer did.

Caitlyn came back to reality when she felt the bed dip beneath her. Vi was settling in next to her, crawling back over to her. Over the last two months, they had silently claimed their own side of the bed. They stuck to it even when lying in Vi’s bed. Though Vi had a queen mattress, and Caitlyn had a king mattress.

Caitlyn often joked that Vi was just using her for her big, comfy bed. Vi would just snort and bury closer to her, the shaved side of her head tickling Caitlyn’s cheek.

Neither of them mentioned the fact that they both knew they slept better not on separate sides, but tangled together in the middle, skin bare and warm and brushing, touching.

Vi wrapped an arm around her, pulling her in. Caitlyn happily settled against her chest, still completely naked herself. She still felt too shaky to get up and change, her limbs heavy and tired.

“Are you okay?” Vi murmured suddenly, breaking her chain of thought. She asked with genuine concern in her voice, like she hadn’t been fucking her into the mattress a mere five minutes ago. “You’re quiet.”

  Her sweet Violet.

Caitlyn shifted against Vi, nodding, knowing that she felt the action. “Just… processing.”

“Fucked you that good, huh?” Vi asked smugly.

  Caitlyn scoffed and Vi laughed.

Still, that sinking feeling in her stomach remained.

The morning after, Caitlyn made coffee, eggs, bacon, and a formal proposal.

Caitlyn woke before her girlfriend and sneaked into the kitchen. She started the coffee machine and threw some eggs in the pan. Ten minutes later, the bacon was sizzling and the eggs were bubbling. Caitlyn scooped them onto a plate and wandered back into their bedroom.

Vi instantly grinned up at her from under the sheets, letting her phone she had been lazily scrolling on fall onto her stomach. She liked to scroll through her phone when she first woke up, laughing occasionally at some odd video Jayce had sent her. Those two had a weird sense of humor, but Caitlyn loved them for it.

Usually, Cait would lie on her chest, feeling the soothing rise and fall of her breaths, admiring the way Vi’s face looked in the morning. Her eyes were tired and soft, half-lidded, the tiny quivers and quirks of her lips as she smiled. The small freckles sticking out against her nose and cheeks. Her nose piercing gleamed in the morning light.

Caitlyn wanted to commit it to memory. She wanted to wake up next to her every morning for the rest of her life.

Vi would always let out a small sigh after scrolling for a while, tilting her head, cheek squished against the top of Cait’s head. She would ask if she liked the video or not. Caitlyn would always say yes, even though she had been really watching Vi the whole time.

Now, Vi inhaled deeply, wrinkling her nose as she sat up, throwing her arms up in the air and stretching. “Something smells good.”

They were both half-dressed and casual after last night’s activities. Vi wore nothing but her boxers and a plain gray tank top. It rode up a bit when she lifted her arms, giving Caitlyn a glimpse of the hard lines of her abdomen. She bit her tongue and swallowed forcefully.

God, Caitlyn would never get tired of seeing those abs.

Caitlyn smiled and shoved a still-warm mug into Vi’s hands, already waiting and outstretched. It was the plain white that Vi always used when she came over. I like my coffee how I like my women: strong, hot, and making me question my life choices was printed across the white ceramic in black font. She had only bought it because it had made Vi laugh when they first saw it at some flea market last summer.

“What’s the occasion?” Vi asked, raising her eyebrows. She accepted the cup with a grateful nod, humming as she took a first sip.

Caitlyn hid her grimace behind her own cup. Vi liked her coffee plain and black, which Cait bullied her for. Caitlyn usually preferred tea, but when she did have coffee, she would just drown it in sugar and cream, which Vi bullied her for.

Since Vi had started staying over more and more, Caitlyn had finally relented and bought a coffee machine. They still went out for coffee sometimes, but Caitlyn liked waking up to find Vi in the kitchen, lazily dressed and making coffee, a record playing on the record player in the living room.

It made her apartment feel more like home.

“A girl can’t pamper her girlfriend?” Caitlyn finally replied. She slipped back into bed beside Vi, covering her bare legs under the silky sheets. She was in her underwear and an old university t-shirt, not even bothering with a bra.

Not that Vi minded, given the quick downward glances she kept giving to Cait’s chest area.

“Is it good?” Caitlyn asked as Vi took a tentative first bite, sitting back onto the stack of pillows behind her.

“Hmm,” Vi huffed, muffled by the eggs shoved into her mouth. She chewed and swallowed. “I could get used to this, you know.”

“Me too,” Caitlyn replied, the corner of her mouth already quirking up.

“Waking up next to you years from now,” Vi said slowly, her tone soft and tender. Dreamy. Cait leaned over, dropping her head onto Vi’s open shoulder. Vi pressed a kiss to her head, lingering there for a second. “Making breakfast together, listening to music, dancing in the kitchen.”

Caitlyn laughed, wrinkling her nose. “And you still have your corny mugs.”

She felt Vi grin against her. “Of course,” she replied, pausing to take a long sip. “And maybe we’ll have a new apartment. Or even a house.”

Caitlyn furrowed her eyebrows. “What’s wrong with my apartment? Or even yours?”

She felt Vi shift beneath her, shrugging. “We might want our own place,” she said, sounding distant. “Something bigger, with no annoying sisters.”

Caitlyn snorted at that. Upon hearing that they were finally dating, Jinx had seemingly won a bet with half of the university. She had spent the next day collecting her earnings and bragging over her sister’s newfound relationship. I told you so!

But she was happy for them. Well, as happy for them as she allowed herself to be.

“Sounds nice,” Caitlyn murmured, her breath warm against Vi’s neck. She slowly traced the ink of the tattoo there, nails lightly scraping thin and delicate skin, feeling Vi shiver under her ever so slightly. She savored every slight movement, every little touch. “What else?”

“We could get a cat,” Vi blurted.

Caitlyn laughed again, soft and sweet.

“And you could have as many plants as you want,” Vi went on. “We’ll have a place with big windows and lots of light. A nice fireplace.”

  “A big bookshelf,” Caitlyn added.

Vi nodded. “Of course.” Her breath tickled Cait’s scalp, a dance of warmth. She kissed her forehead. “By then, we would be graduated. You’d have your law degree and I’d have my English degree.” Vi traced an absent hand through Caitlyn’s hair, brushing back strands from her face. “We’d probably live outside the city. That way, you could get a job at the best law firm in the city, and I could teach at whatever school I wanted.”

Caitlyn shifted to look up at Vi, hanging onto every word. She was simply and utterly captivated.

She had thought of her future, her future with Vi, of course, but nothing this in depth. They both had to finish up school and settle into their careers before anything big ever happened.

But that didn’t stop Cait from dreaming, thinking about tangled sheets and the smell of baking cookies in the oven. She thought about it when she couldn’t sleep, late at night, with Vi curled into her. She thought about it in the shower, helping work shampoo into Vi’s short, mused hair, lavender coconut filling her nostrils. She thought about it while bored in class. She thought of it during sex, a strong body pushing against hers, sinking deeper and deeper into the mattress.

She always thought of the little things, the simple gestures.

Vi swallowed, wavering. Hesitating. “We’ll make good money, hopefully.”

  Caitlyn hummed in agreement.

“Still, I’ll save,” Vi said, and Caitlyn tilted her head. “I’ll save, and I’ll buy you the prettiest ring.”

Caitlyn’s heart stalled in her chest.

There was silence for a moment, like they were both processing what had been said. What had been implied.

“Breakfast in bed,” Vi said suddenly, smiling softly. Her nose was still buried in Caitlyn’s hair, brushing her scalp. She trailed off, inhaling slowly, nearly inhaling a strand of Caitlyn’s dark hair. “I love this, and I…”

Caitlyn held her breath, heart rattling in her chest.

Vi seemed to swallow back her next sentence, gulping down her words, the words she seemingly wanted to say.

Maybe the words Caitlyn had been secretly hoping to hear.

Whatever it was, the words went unsaid.

  Caitlyn exhaled.

Vi kept on eating, oblivious to her girlfriend’s internal distress.

Vi sent her a side glance a moment later. “You gonna eat, Cait?” She asked. “I can’t finish this all by myself.”

You probably could, Caitlyn thought with a laugh. Vi could eat like a grizzly bear coming out of hibernation, especially after a good, long workout. Vi always ate well. Food, Caitlyn meant. Well, food and other things.

A prime example was last night.

Caitlyn cleared her throat and gave her a small smile. “Yeah, in a second.”

Vi nodded, but narrowed her eyes almost suspiciously.

“We should talk,” Caitlyn said as Vi reached for another slice of bacon.

Vi froze mid-bite, eyes flying up. “Is it serious?”

Caitlyn tilted her head thoughtfully. “Yes,” she replied. “I suppose so.”

Vi nodded, then swallowed slowly, throat bobbing. “This is not about getting another plant, is it?” Vi asked, voice still muffled by her bite of breakfast. She squinted. “Babe, I think we’re running out of windowsills.”

Caitlyn snorted. Vi thought this was about plants?

“Do you remember last night?” Caitlyn said instead, trying to gently change the subject.

She also made a mental note to water the potted plants later. Vi wouldn’t let her get more if she kept killing them.

“Of course I remember last night,” Vi said, already smirking. She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively. “What about last night?”

“No! This is serious,” Caitlyn said, groaning. “Very serious.”

“Oh God,” Vi muttered. “Are we breaking up?”

  Caitlyn frowned, crossing her arms.

“What?” Vi asked. She finished chewing the last bit of bacon. “Don’t tell me the strap got you pregnant—”

Caitlyn ran a hand over her face, letting out an exasperated sigh. “Neither!” She exclaimed, then paused, swallowing thickly. “I just… I think I want to be the one in charge next time.”

Vi squinted. “Of what? The remote? The grocery list?”

  “In bed.”

  “Oh.” Vi’s eyes widened. “Oh.”

“Oh what, Violet?” Caitlyn asked, sitting up so she could get a good look at the expression on Vi’s face.

Vi’s expression was surprised, to say the least. And maybe a little startled. Her mouth was open, her eyebrows furrowed, but she quickly snapped it shut, thickly swallowing the rest of her bite. “You want to,” she said slowly. “Be in control?”

Caitlyn nodded, narrowing her eyes. “Yes,” she said slowly. “That’s what I just said.”

“And that means what exactly?” Vi questioned, raising an eyebrow.

Caitlyn massaged her temple. “For God’s sake,” she muttered. “It means I want to fuck you, Violet. I want to make you orgasm.”

Vi nearly choked on her bacon.

She coughed, and Caitlyn reached over, patting her tentatively on the back. Vi held one finger, asking for a minute. Caitlyn complied, closing her mouth. All was silent for a good minute, save for Vi’s subtle wheezing.

“Are you alright with my proposition?” Caitlyn finally asked, eyebrows furrowed. She had been surprised by her girlfriend’s visceral reaction. “Or do you have any protests?”

“No,” Vi said, voice hoarse. She coughed again, patting her chest. “Just… surprised.” She sent Caitlyn a small smirk and her heart fluttered. “You know what you want, huh?”

“I always have,” Caitlyn replied, a hand sliding up Vi’s arm, squeezing her bicep lightly. She frowned. “Do you?”

Vi looked away. She shrugged, not meeting her eyes. “With all my old relationships and hookups and shit, they never really…”

  She trailed off awkwardly.

Caitlyn felt that old, insistent tug. She didn’t want to hear about Vi’s old lovers. She didn’t want to hear about other girls.

She just wanted to be Vi’s girl, her one and only.

Vi swallowed forcefully and cleared her throat. “I was almost always the one giving,” she explained. “I never really received. I mean, I didn’t really…” she muttered, scratching the back of her head. “I liked it that way. The other way around…” She paused and shook her head. “It felt too close, too intimate. I didn’t trust them enough for that.”

It was quiet for a moment, Vi still limply staring down at her lamp.

Slowly, Caitlyn reached out and took her hand. “Do you trust me?”

Vi met her gaze, eyes soft. “Fuck, Cait,” she breathed. “Of course I do.”

Caitlyn smiled and kissed her, her lips soft and perfect. She tasted like coffee and breakfast, her mouth was still minty from the toothpaste she stole from Cait’s bathroom drawer.

When they pulled back, Caitlyn stared at her for a moment, taking it all in—the warmth of her body, the warm expression on her face. The color of her eyes.

You deserve every good thing in this world, she thought, her thumb caressing her girlfriend’s cheek.

  But she didn’t say that.

Instead, she sat up and held out a hand. “Good,” she replied. “Now, are you done with that?”

Vi’s gaze flickered back to the plate on her lap. She nodded, gingerly handing it over to Cait. “Thank you,” she said. “For breakfast. For everything.”

“Of course,” Caitlyn answered, still smiling.

   Anything for you.

It was silent then, just the two of them staring at one another, Caitlyn balancing the plate.

“I should get going,” Vi blurted, throwing the covers off of her. “I have a class at ten.”

Caitlyn nodded. “Say goodbye before you leave?”

“I will,” Vi promised. She sealed it with another kiss to the cheek. “Don’t worry.”

“I won’t,” Caitlyn hummed, then left the room.

As she walked into the kitchen, the beginning of a plan was already forming in her head.
