Chapter Text

Pangi was at the casino drinking with his friends when his phone started going off in his pocket. When he pulled his phone out of his pocket and saw it was Lukey facetiming. He laughed to himself, thinking about how clingy Lukey was before answering. When the call connected, it was goofily zoomed in on Lukey’s face, startling Pangi, which made Lukey bust out laughing. “Ugh, I am not sober enough for your bullshit tonight, Lukey. What’s up? Wait, where are you dude?” Pangi finally asks, realizing that Lukey is not at home. “Sorry!” Lukey says in his tone of voice that implies that he is, in fact, not sorry. “I am on a night walk, just wondering around Brighton, and look what I found!” Lukey flips the phone camera around to show a gazebo, it was pink and green, looking over the Brighton coast. The lighting of the gazebo, especially at night, made it a really romantic site. Lukey walks up the steps and moves to stand in the center of the gazebo, panning around in a circle so Pangi could see all the view.

“Wow, are you planning to propose to me over the phone? This is romantic as fuck.” Pangi says laughing. Lukey flips the camera back around to give Pangi an unimpressed look through the camera with a laugh. “Haha, very funny. But yeah, it is romantic, would be a good place to propose one day I guess… just not to you.” Lukey says, laughing at Pangi’s pout. After their giggles settle down, they are both silent, both taking in the views that they have, not of the surroundings, but of each other. Lukey had moved from the center of the gazebo to the edge overlooking the beach, and was smiling, so Pangi got the view of Lukeys smile while he was being backlit by the lights of the gazebo. Pangi was standing in a quiet part of the casino, so Lukey got the view of Pangi being lit up by the red lights of the casino, as well as the multicolored lights of the slot machines around him. This combined with the easy smile Pangi gets when he has had a few drinks and the collar of his shirt being unbuttoned made for a pleasant view for Lukey.

“This really is a romantic gazebo, could be a fun place for a normal date too, late night picnic would go hard.” Lukey says with a chuckle. “Yeah? You should take me there when I visit then.” Pangi says, and they both giggle at that. As much as this was all phrased as a joke from both of them, to both of them it was only a half joke. After a few more moments of peaceful silence, both admiring how beautiful the other was in their chosen locations, they hung up to continue with their evenings. As Lukey walks back towards his house, he makes note of how to get back to the gazebo in the future.

The moment that existed during the facetime call is not brought up again, on or off stream. Even when Pangi finally comes to Brighton before they leave for San Diago, there isn’t even a mention of the gazebo from either party. It is the second night of Pangi’s stay in Brighton that Lukey convinces Pangi to go on a night walk with him. They both go out, and just kind of wander around Brighton, Lukey talking and telling stories of almost every place they past by. Pangi is just smiling and watching Lukey excitedly ramble on about old stories of what he and the rest of the Brighton crew had gotten up to in the past. This means Pangi does not realize where they are until he notices the area ahead of him is a lot lighter than his surroundings, and he looks away from Lukey’s face to look around him. He looks up to see the gazebo, which hasn’t changed in the month since he first saw it though the facetime call. “I don’t have a picnic, but here we are!” Lukey says with a smile, walking to the other side of the gazebo that overlooks the beach, and after a pause, Pangi joins him.

“Still just as romantic in person as it was over the phone, I wasn’t expecting that” Pangi says, trying to pretend that he is looking out to the sea and not at Lukeys face, Lukey trying to do the same thing, both avoiding eye contact with the other as the tension builds up. “It really is super romantic, I had forgotten just how romantic it was though” Lukey says, pushing away from the railing he was leaning on and goes to stand in the center of the room, slowly spinning around looking all around him. Pangi turns to look at him and is shocked at the beauty in front of him, Lukey almost glowing in the light of the gazebo. Shaking himself out of his stupor, Pangi joins Lukey in the center of the gazebo. They stand in the center together, just a couple of feet away from each other, and for the first time, are openly admiring each other. Pangi hesitantly takes a step forward, watching Lukey for his reaction, smiling when Lukey takes a step forward in return. They are almost chest to chest in the center of the gazebo, just gazing into each other’s eyes, when Lukey notices Pangi’s eyes dart down to his lips, making Lukey unconsciously lick his lips. The stalemate lasts another few breaths before Pangi slowly starts leaning in towards Lukey, which cues Lukey to lean in and meet him in the middle. Their lips press together in a short and sweet kiss, only lasting a few seconds before they are pulling away.

Pangi takes the last half step needed to be chest to chest with Lukey, puts one hand at Lukey’s waist, and the other moves up to gently cup Lukey’s face, who smiles and leans into the hand. “I guess it really was super romantic.” Pangi says, which makes Lukey roll his eyes, and they both giggle. Lukey leans in and gives Pangi a quick peck on the lips and goes lean back, but Pangi uses the hand on his face to keep him close and closes the gap himself again. As they gently kiss in the center of the gazebo, both of them are processing and realizing that they are really doing this, that neither of their feelings were unrequited. As they lean back for air, Lukey smiles at Pangi, who smiles back. “I am glad I brought you here, and I’m glad this finally happened.” Lukey says, as Pangi wraps Lukey in his arms for a hug, and Lukey tucks his face into Pangi’s neck, resting his head on his shoulder, as they gently sway in the wind. “You wanna know one small bonus to us finally getting together?” At Pangi’s noise of curiosity, Lukey continues. “We can farm crash outs during San Diago.” Lukey finishes his sentence, making them both laugh.
